If you do well on the gaokao, you can get into a great university. Just like back home, having that on your resume can be really helpful. Of course, if you have money you can buy your way. For those that don't, the gaokao is their best chance at a good future.

No. If your Mommy and Daddy are hooked up you can be a total dufus and still get a kick arse Govt. job.
