Q: Gay marriage. .can you have an opinion?

Australia is having a half assed vote on same sex marriage.
Both sides can voice their opinion however it seems that you must have the same opinion or be victimized.
The following link is a sample of that.
My question is "should the business owner be legally pursued for un fair dismissal?

i only disagree with the term "gay marriage", take out marriage as a government function and let marriages be done at the church, straight church, gay church, who cares, but all government documents are "civil unions" with all previous government sanctioned marriages "grandfathered in the system as civil unions", this takes all the religion, discrimination, etc. out of the argument, and you can tell everyone to kiss your ass on the right and the left. The bible may be for or against gay marriage, but i have a "civil union", so leave me the fuck alone, but the left had to piss off the religious nuts and shove this gay shit down their throat for their own good like the ignorant arrogant i know what is best for you little fucks they are, and now we have the unintended consequences and the backlash.

I think if it's your business you should be able to choose who works for you.

 

If you feel like their politics, opinions or whatever will harm your business image, or that the worker won't fit in with others who work there or even if you just don't like them you should be able to fire them.

 

I know, it's sometimes unfair and there is sometimes prejudice there and firing someone might be a dick move on your part but it still should be your right to choose who works in YOUR business. The same as most people would expect to be able to kick someone they don't like out of their house when they're having a party or pull over and tell a hitch hiker you just picked up to get the faaark out of your car because you don't like what he's saying.

I agree with Stiggs and would take Phil's question a step further. Should you be allowed to choose who to serve in your business based on your religious beliefs? After all, if potential customers don't like your attitude, they can take their money elsewhere.

If a man wants to marry a man, or a woman wants to marry a woman, or an transgender wants to marry a transgender, what business is it of anyone else?

Marriage is a partnership that grants rights of inheritance, pension etc. That is the key. Legal rights.

Everyone should have equal rights, and everyone should just shrug their shoulder, mutter whatever, and vote yes. Hey man, equal for everyone. Whats the big deal.

I heard a podcast last night where both women were interviewed.

It seems the 18 year old american conservative christian got a job in a promotions company that employed several openly gay people. This girl had already been causing trouble with the gay workers in the 2 days ahe worked there.

The kicker was that she put something on facebook about anti gay marriage and associated it with the company which does lots of events in the gay community and with their kids.

The boss agreed she was a hypocrite for discriminating against the girl for having her opinion but said she'd rather be a hypocrite than allow someone who is so anti gay to work in her company.

The girl says she won't persue legal matters but stands by her anti gay message "because god says it in the bible. And i have many gay family and friends and they respect my opinion on this".

The boss sounded like a very reasonable peraon. The girl sounded like a dick.

This is exactly why lefties and righties are both idiots. They're both guilty of this. Your opinion is your opinion unless it affects your work. A sportscaster called Trump a racist, righties want her fired, no dipshits. She doesn't cover politics so it doesn't affect her job.Lefties always fire professors for simply voting no on issues like immigration, gay marriage, and the like. 

Now here's where I draw the line, a firefighter says he'd rather rescue a cat instead of 1000 N.....s , that is your fucking job, fired. We lost the ability to be reasonable and logical.

Without even reading the followup, yes, she was perfectly within her rights to fire her.

 

Most contracts these days have clauses relating to social media posts, and if those posts are detrimental to the business, then they hae the right to terminate. Perhaps unfair, but that's the way things are.

 

So, yes - you're entitled to your opinion... but you don't get to voice them when you're a representative of an organisation.

This is interesting. ..
The Australian Bureau of Statistics announced it will publish weekly national estimates of submitted surveys from Tuesday until November 7.

However, definite participation rates won't be available until the results are released on November 15.
Isn't that messing with the results?
