Q: Is getting cinema membership worth it?

It costs 120 rmb to see Titanic at Mega Box in Beijing which seems outrageous. Members get discounted tickets but doesn't membership cost a substantial amount in the first place?

my school gives discounts for that stuff so i do not have to worry. though i think it is like B.Js you have to spend 10 times what you would normally spend just to save 5%, so just rent the movie or pay the money because unless you plan to see 8 movies a month that is your only option.

If you don't see many movies then it definitely won't be worth it. Do you want to see Titanic that badly, or are you just curious? How many other movies will you want to see this year?

I have the membership card, since I go to the cinema once a month with my girlfriend. It pays for itself really quickly, since it can greatly reduce the prices.

I'd say worth it.

Cinema VIPs are worth it! They don't charge to join, you just have to buy a lot of tickets at once. We just bought VIP at our theater and it was 1200 RMB for 24 tickets and we get free sodas and popcorns and stuff. They just cost a lot up front to buy, but it saves you money over the course of a year (of course this is depending on the specific VIP program at your local theater. If none of the employees speak good enough English to explain it to you, just take a Chinese friend with you and then take him/her to see a movie:)

It's worth it! You will be able to get half price on certain days. Also, depends on how often you watch movies. I watch almost all of the good movies that come out. Already saw battleship, warhorse and getting ready to see the avengers this week. no

derek:

You are "getting ready" to see a movie? What does that even mean?

GuilinRaf:

I would guess reading up on Superheroes, reading all the comic books over the last ten years, etc. so that when the movie changes things one can say "Hey! that was not in the comic!!!"

The sugary popcorn is a deal breaker for me. I would never buy the membership for that reason alone.

It is a crime against popcorn!
