It's nothing serious, I guess mostly cosmetic even.
I have a small benign growth that I want to ugh...cut off. Incised? Lopped? whatever the medical term is. Has anybody had minor surgery here?
Any Chinese hospital horror stories?

As per my experience, you can get good surgery for the removal of your bening growth...the surgery would depend upon the nature of your growth whether it should be cauterized or removed through cyrography or by traditional method....Any way, you can visit the hospital in your city and to know this you can ask from your health insurance provider.
Since, I work in China as a doctor....chinese hospitals are not bad .I can't say for every one but those in provincial capitals are good..
There are some hospitals run jointly by chinese govt. & some foreign companies, try getting your surgery in some of these hospitals .
But first you should ask or confirm form your health insurance provider that in which hospitals insurance will work, because there are certain insurance which are not accepted in my hospital.
You shouldn't be too scared regarding your surgery after all you are in Beijing , so you got lot of good options .
Have your funeral arrangements in order.

That's the best comment I've seen on here. If I could give you 10 thumbs up I would.
Tbh that's pretty minor surgery. I would hope the Chinese would be able to handle that. Obviously I would head to a tier 1 city for it just in case though, possibly tier 2.
I had pretty major surgery in SZ late last year. I posted about it in detail on some thread a few months ago. I thought everyone involved (pre-op, op, post-op) did a really great job and I wanna keep thanking them for that until the day I die, especially the surgeon!
*I do believe I got a little bit special treatment though. White American guy with some local (minor league) guanxi. (before you tell me I'm racist or whatever, TIC)
I don't mean to discourage you, but maybe you should go to Hong-Kong or something...

just remember that something minor can turn major in no time at all. if it becomes infected fast you better be prepared to remove the sutures and disinfect with various substances (to include: alcohol, iodine, bleach, heavily concentrated salt water). then re-suture.
