Q: Is going all the way to Dunhuang in Gansu worth the effort?

Heard it takes for ever to get to but the caves are really great and the desert scenery stunning. Has anyone taken the trip? Is it worth it?

Totally worth it! I mean it does require a hell of a long trip to get there but it's totally worth it. You feel like you're so far away from everything, surrounded by sand dunes, dessert, history... once in a lifetime but make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there and back.
