Oh god all decent protein powder in china costs a fortune. Taobao is a good source.

Do you want it for meal replacement or weight training?

In hong kong you can find more reasonable prices. You have that luxury down in gz.

Taobao?  Protein powder?  Really?   Never tried it because taobao + protein powder sounds scary.

It seemed OK, Metrx brand. Tasted what I was used to.

I don't think taobao is any more dodgy than any other store here, and maybe somewhat less because the seller rating is so visible.

Nearby Nanhai district in Foshan (stop at Nangui Lu station on the Guangfo line, 40 minutes from Tianhe district by subway) has an astonishing number of shops importing everything you can dream of as it has one of the largest concentration of (really) wealthy Chinese in the entire country and they are quite picky. You might want to check it out, for sure some shops there have high quality protein powders.

Ole Supermarket in SZ stocks Western Made Whey Protein Powder....so I guess the GZ branch may too.

Store M21, Taikoo Hui, 383 Tianhe East Road, Tianhe, Guangzhou

Pricey = 500 - 700 rmb.

There must be better online resources...i think bodybuilding.com ship to China too.

Try taobao. I have been buying BSN syntha6 for a few months now and it is the real deal, but you could basically get any brand on Taobao. If you know the brand well you will know when its fake or not!

I always get mine from Hong Kong or acquaintances that I have who are passing through and willing to do a little shopping trip for their friends.  I wonder though, with that new trade zone in Shanghai, will that make things easier to get around here?  More real products with lower prices?

shenzhen and hong kong have some shops.  Some ship to guangzhou and other local cities and the Shenzhen area; Good life in HK, our PQFitness shop in Shenzhen, and world supplement warehouse in Shanghai have reasonable prices and good reviews.  Taobao is pretty risky with the lack of regulation on fake products.  In my experience, On Nutrition and Muscle Tech are the 2 most found to be fakes in China, but I am sure that changes for each month.  shipping from the states is expensive so if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
