Q: Happy Lets-Keep-Hating-Japan day festival !

Hear sirens this morning. A reminder to the Chinese that once Japan did something uncalled for.

No mention of the massive monetary donations Japan has given China since.

I absolutely detest that day of the year. The siren day for over here is coming in December so I still have a few months before I have to deal with it..

@Scan: It was still a pretty awful war, with countless millions killed. Downplay it and you lose credibilty.

I prefer the other Question I made. No, I mean, some anonymous asshole wrote. In there, things are compared indetail, and the atrocities are put in proportion with other genocides during war and peacetime... Wink

This is the day I think about how different my life would be if only I had gone to Japan. Mainly, for the better. Japan is generally the inverse of China--if an adjective applies to China, it is broadly true that the opposite applies to Japan.

Filthy~pristine. Raised-by-wolves~Courteous. Stupid~Smart. Self-important~Self-aware. Lazy~Industrious. Crap~Quality. And so forth, and so on. I think most people see where I am going with this. I bet it kills the locals that the Japanese are objectively better than them, in almost every way.

Ah man... those anti-Japanese war shows are absolute garbage.

We all know the CCP hid out while the KMT fought the Japanese. Then the Americans made the Japanese retreat and the CCP decided it was a good time to attack the KMT and force them to retreat to Taiwan.

But let's all watch these shows like the CCP saved China with no help from anybody... or let's not.

DrMonkey:

"while the KMT fought the Japanese"...

KMT fought in Shanghai and a few battles after with desperate efforts. KMT had proven it could be a pain in the ass for the Kwantung Army (the part of the Imperial Army that was in China, full of hot-headed officers). The KMT got lots of financial and military help from USA. Most notably the Flying Tigers, supply deliveries, and armies supplied & trained by Gen. Stillwell. After a few months of fierce fight, the KMT then just sat, stocking up all the money and the supply, and waited the war to end, no matter what was the cost on the population. The idea was to keep armies fresh with nice supplies to use against the communists once the Japanese gone. Any attempts to push the KMT to fight again were just ignored. Actually, the Flying Tiger were asked to just leave, because "it made the Japanese angry". The communist were overall more efficient than the KMT, but they mostly waited the Japanese to leave too, while training troops. Both side were guilty of waiting quietly the Japanese to go to jump at the other's throat.

Robk:

That makes it sound even worse.

So then basically America saved China while the two Chinese defenders basically sat around and did dick all?

That's the Chinese spirit... maybe better to let Japan take China.

TedDBayer:

After the Allies finished up in Berlin, the Soviets agreed to go kick the Japanese out of Manchuria and Korea, the Japanese were so spread out and thin by then, that they had no force. The USA gave money and supplies to China hoping China would help with the war and take some of the pressure off, instead the Chinese fought themselves. To be fair to the Chinese, they were at war with a modern army and were still using swords.

It's settled, then. The next time a war breaks out in East Asia, the loser has to keep China.

It's so short sighted, historically mongolia did much worse to them. Conquered the whole place and gave themselves the mandate of heaven.

If i was going to hate a place for historical atrocity totally mongolia.

coineineagh:

Mongolia's land empire rivaled the British empire. They just weren't interested in ruling or controlling territory - it was all just outfighting to prevent infighting. They also applied terror and cruelty. There just wasn't anything that stood a chance against so many horse archers. But world populations were too small back then to compare with 20th century death tolls. I think China is OK with the Mongols because they have a large swath of Outer Mongolia along with ethnic minorities.

What anyone planning to kill millions of Chinese ought to make damned sure of is that they are Chinese too. They might get their mugshot hung from Tiananmen and their body embalmed so that hordes of credulous and brainwashed people can peer at it all day.

I dunno guys.I think the whole holiday has just gotten too commercial. Now its all about who can make and burn the best effigies at the neighborhood anti-Japan rally. Or who throw the most bricks through the windows of Japanese cars and businesses. If only there were some anti-Japanese pageant that I could direct that could remind me of the true meaning of Hate Japan day. You know, chaos on earth, Ill will to men, that kinda thing. Oh well.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
