Q: Has the colder weather changed/improved the air quality in your city?

After a day of snow during the week here, despite being so much colder now, the air quality is much better than the previous few weeks.

Has snow / a drop in tempreture improved the air quality where you are ?

The colder it gets, the more the coal they go through and the worse the air becomes.  The only time the air quality improves here is when we get a nice strong wind blowing.  Then it's great!

sorrel:

yes, that what should happen. But here despite no wind, the air quality has improved

In Suzhou, AQI 100 the best days, but we got spikes at 300. Winter in China, if you loved the lack of insulation, you will love the smog Laughing out loud

Here in Nanning two weeks ago it was reading 214 which is the highest I have seen in two and a half years of being here. Some days back we a couple of days of heavy rain and that seemed to wash a lot of it out, down to 39. It is going back up though, today is 119.

A thing the cold air brings... drop in humidity. This then increases dust generally.

Around 220 tonight (Dec 23) in Tai'an.  it will get worse as the winter gets colder because more coal will be used to power the generators and heat the water to make the homes warm. Ad to that the increased indoor smoking and the increased use of cars etc etc.  I think this is why we see more adds for FT in Northern China. The FTs are going home. Boy the Chinese are smart; they found a way to get rid of foreigners.
