Today my boyfriend got a terrible haircut which makes him look like a prisoner. How could the barber be so unskilled?
I once asked in broken Mandarin for the barber to take off about a quarter of an inch. Either by my bad Mandarin or his bad hearing, he heard "I want my hair a quarter of an inch long."
By the time I figured out the error, he had already made the first pass with the shears. Nothing to do then but hope I looked good bald. I didn't.
I cut my hair myself, so i've always got a bad haircut. Once went into a place, didn't know which was a barbers and which was a knocking shop at the time, and the cheeky bar.......ber shaved between my eyebrows. Humph. I liked my mono-brow. Looked like a wee caterpillar crawlin' cross m'head.
i just had a bad haircut one week ago,it was so bad that l bought a hat the next day,now wherever i go,i wear the hat.i swear i would never go to that place again!

I once read about this famous mobster in Chicago, I forget which one. Anyway, it was during the Prohibition and he went to this barber shop for a shave and a hair cut. Well, turns out he didnt like the job the barber did, but since he could not remember which one did the job, he had his "boys" break the hands of all three barbers who worked there.
If the definition of bad haircut is - to get such type of haircut which you do not expect.then I will say that every time in China i use to get bad hair cut..
Yes, it seems everytime I get a haircut they take off more than I want..
I find the quality of the haircut I get is directly proportional to the price I pay. If I want a halfway decent haircut I have to pay at least 50 RMB.
I got a haircut at a fancy place, wanted to have a good quality time, turned out the did not understand what I wanted and ended up with hair that was too short. Second time (a different, cheap Korean hair salon), the haircut was great, though the color was not. I asked for highlights, ladies colored all of my hair blonde, I ended up having a carrot blonde.
Most part of the hair dresser are not qualified, they learn from the practice.
I have been a couple of times to an hairdresser and I have never been satisfied neither by their work nor by the time they needed just to shave my hair. So I end up shaving my hair by myself : faster, cheaper and no risk of extra-charge with shampoos or massage.
Ah, the advantages of thinning hair! There is very little to mess up....
Surprisingly even the 8RMB haircuts in Shanghai are quite good. Not much to complain...
People is not skilled at all. I guess they think the craziest the haircut of the hairdresser the better but is bullshit. I've gone to places charging from 6 RMB to 200 and they are all the same. Just some difference between the 6 and 200 place.
The 200 one is cleaner and looks cooler but service is the same and skill is the same. They think like owning a bag for scissors Tony Studio or something like that gives them the skill to cut decently.
I've analized what they do and they wanna cut everyone the same style, now I have fun and everytime I arrive to each place to cut my hair I talk to them in spanish and move my hands to show I wanna cut my hair. Amazingly they all, from 6 to 150 RMB cut it in the same way and all of them leave places in my head with notably longer hair than other parts.
Is it that also we must keep supervising people who cut our hair?? I thought it was enough supervising the rest of things involved in our lives here.
I got a bad one , i paid 45.00 yuan for it in Qingdao. Then i had an Italian buisness owner tell me where to go , price 75.00 and it was a good haircut. it pays to ask around and to seek advise before going for a haircut.
Never had a bad haircut in China, but then again I'm shaved bald.
I used to go to the same guy every time because he always did a decent job. Last time i took my wife, and shes watching in horror, im like relax its all good he knows what hes doing, wait for it to be finished before you judge. 5 minutes later she starts to speak to him in chinese and im like damn woman, he knows what hes doing, your gonna make him nervous! Shes like oookay!
Son of a bitch shaved my head bald in the back, gave me negative sideburns and just screwed me up. I was sooo pissed. I asked him why, or shouted at him demanding an answer really, and he said " you always have it the same so i decided to make a change! "
Now i need to find a new barber
Nah, because I just tell them what I want. I say in Chinese that I want "san haomi." 三毫米 or 3mm. I then point to my head, and tell him to shave it all off. I normally try to keep it shaved off. When it gets too long, I shave it again.
Having a haircut in China is one of the little joys life offers here.
Hair washed, scalp massage, meticulous scissor work, hair wash and scalp massage again. Blowdry. Pay 30 yuan.
Go tell that to the judge in any other country....and they won't believe ya!
Chinese haircutters always have their own idea how your hair should be cut and look after finished. I have tried numerous times to explain - in Chinese even - how to cut my hair. By the time they are finished it always looks the same and they are proud of their work. Some-times they even tell me that for my hair and face it looks perfect what they did.
Never! At worst, if they can't really understand what you want, they'll take a little off and send you on your way, just gotta make sure to stop t hem before they try to add hair product and fluff you out like a porcupine. But normally, they get it pretty good. Probably helps that my hair is not unlike the typical Chinese....black and straight.
Worst haircut I ever got was at one of those places like you see in a mall in the US. Lady gave me a gumby-esque neck line....slanted, use your imagination. Of course, I couldn't see it....had to wait for some stranger to fill me in on the disaster.
