Q: Have you ever received non-spam mail in your Chinese letterbox?

I haven't received any bills or other bureaucratic letters in the mail since living in China. This is weird in my opinion. I usually get a brown envelope in the mail every week back home. Why is this?

Believe it or not, home delivery of mail is not the most common item in China these days.  Many people, at least those who are employed, often receive all their mail at work, or so I am told by my Chinese colleagues.  Bills are generally posted on mailboxes (in terms of electric, gas, etc., etc.), at least where I live.  Bureaucratic letters?  I am not sure what you mean here.

For things like phone, insurance etc. we have asked the respective companies to send paper statements. So they show up monthly/annually. Per default you get nothing, just spam.
