Q: Have you seen bad-mannered Chinese abroad?

While we're in China, it's their game and they can act like they want, but have you ever witnessed Chinese abroad getting called out for being rude douches? Like at foreign airports and the like?

Actually, most of the Chinese I have met who live abroad are very nice.  They are polite, friendly and make fantastic friends.

The ones that are just on vacation however...  I have seen them get smacked down by local Chinese many times.  Once, I was at Disneyland in California and there was a Chinese family acting, well, stereotypically Chinese and another Chinese couple yelled at them in Chinese telling them to stop acting like spoiled "monkeys asses" because they were giving all Chinese people a bad image.

There was almost a fight between the two groups when I started laughing at what they said and quickly translated for the people around me.  The Chinese tourists were so embarrassed that they quickly left the area.  :)

Well, in Seoul some restaurants have signs asking their Chinese (Mainlanders probably) patrons to please refrain from conducting voice amplification experiments whilst dining in their establishment.

....or sth like that....

My sister works at Toronto airport and hates Chinese. She says they burp and fart like crazy and just act like pigs. I haven't noticed it.

At home I have noticed over the years that the natives(white) act worse considering things are better now than they were for my parents and they were better off than my grandparents. People don't dress well at home, they are always miserable and complaining.Manners like holding doors, well I won't get into that.... Seems to me that civiization while the standard of living is higher is deteriorating. The fall of western civilization? We have so many welfare bums. So I'll vote no, we're worse.

Yes, not joking , no cynicism in my spelling, I think our culture is in the toilet, welfare, disability, mother allowance, who works and is anybody happy? The average person dresses like a bum, try and find nice dress shoes etc in Canada, runners yes.

Typically I've always found Chinese visitors to be friendly, courteous and polite -- they are all the younger ones coming over to study.

I was in Chinese Restaurant on Folsom Street in SF many years ago, and at one table four or five Chinese guests were taking turns, 'who will bend and fart lauder'.

It was very strange, and I have never 'seen, heard or smell' that before.

But then, somebody explained to me, Chinese believe you should not hold air inside your body because of etiquette. You should let air (fart, burp & other things) out of your body, because you'll feel better after you 'open' the windows........
