Q: Have you seen "Chinese Zodiac"?
I have seen advertisements for this all over the place. Has any one seen this yet that can speak to the quality of the film?
I've heard it referred to both as Jackie Chan's magnum opus and as his death knell.

I have seen it.
It's nothing more than an obvious, political statement. The non-Chinese actors spewing rhetoric about social order and the like. On top of that, the acting is atrocious and the stunts are timed and edited poorly. The opening chase scene has "JC", from a standing position on one occassion, easily speeding past motorcycles and jeeps in a "wheeled suit". The scene on "the islands" with the French and Japanese is so stereotyped that it's actually nauseous to watch. Truly a film to be avoided.
I am sure Chinese people will think it's a funny, action film however.
forget about the "politics" and think it as a simple funny comedy movie to watch,

I didn't laugh at all during the whole movie. A waste of time is all it is.
big yawn of a movie. Derek nailed it very poor acting, poor action scenes, poor directing, poor plot just poor everything.
I prefer old style jackie chans to the new version. I haven't seen it but I heard about it from a kid and although he said it was his favorite movie the way he described it to me didn't make sense nor was it amusing.
You gotta go for low budget Chinese movies to find the gems...well I don't watch Hollywood crap either...Hollywood is dead and its been a while. Screw Jackie Chan.

I enjoy a good asian action film. This was dreadful.
