Q: Have a Z visa, can I look for my own job (explanation below)....

This summer, after a Springtime of wrangling, I got my new Work Permit (Residence Permit/Z Visa etc.). My visa holder is an employment company who sends teachers to schools, they are the ones who set up the appointment and the school does the hiring.

I have had three interviews and have been turned down three times. All high school public school positions. I have another interview on Wednesday and hope four times is the charm. If not, I really do not know what to do. The interview process is a royal pain in the ass, and it seems they are very picky for some reason and I am not passing muster with them. Not to go so deep there, but there it is.

Can I look for my own job and transfer the visa? Is this a difficult process (knowing China it may be), and I want more options. I have never had a new working visa and been in this situation, and wonder how difficult it may or may not be.

I am in Sweet Home Zhejiang if that matters.

You can look for your own job (how else do people find new jobs?) but when you get an offer there's a process to go though...

1) Resign with 30 days notice

2) get release letter and cancellation receipt

3) new employer completes application to transfer your WP

4) get updated RP

In order to get WP one must sign Contract ....

In Contract is stated what you must do and what you will get in return. ... I've never saw/sign Contract without guaranteed employment ... I don't know where to go with your 'explanation bellow'.

Once you resign/terminate the Contract, your Residence permit can be terminated too especcialy if party A isn't happy with your termination and you (party B) doesn't have grounds for termination.

Z visa expred/was replaced by Residence permit in 30-days of your entry to Zhejiang.

As it always happened to me after I got WP, I always had job in the same time. I mean, I had to work for WP/RP sponsor.

The question makes no sense.

You got your RP before your Z?

You got a new work permit and Z?

You only need one Z.

Have you you been caught out with the ABC work permit fella?

I suspect so. Because your details are so confused. So I think you should slow down, read the visa threads you have dismissed, then rethink your question.

Your visa holder is you. Not a company.

If a third party is holding your documents, then under UN law you are a trafficked person

I use the term "Z Visa" because for a work permit. I guess I should just say "work permit".

Still makes no sense. A Z visa is an entry visa that allows you to apply for a work permit and resident permit.

Maybe you're lousy at being interviewed. Here are some tips that might help you pass an ESL interview in PRC at the start of the term.

1. Show up sober. If impossible, then put on cologne so that you don't reek of alcohol.

2. Take a shower/wash your clothes at least the day before the interview. Again, if this is impossible, put on some cologne.

3. Be on time for the interview.

4. No matter how confident you feel from all of the alcohol that you have in you...  DO NOT HIT ON THE INTERVIEWER. Creepy.

5. Along with #4, don't noticeably check-out/leer at anyone there/the students. Creepy.

6. Have the ability to speak/teach basic standard English and grammar. Thus means no Obscure dialects. Know the difference between a synonym and simile.

7. Show up. Don't be offfnsive.

8. Re-examine the way that you act during interviews. To be declined multiple times at the beginning of the term...  there's some kind if fatal flaw in your process; I'm turning down multiple offers DAILY.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
