Q: Health check now required for alien employment license in Shanghai? Q's about exam

I hope my usual health center in America is okay and I'm guessing the examination form  on china-embassy.org is still valid so I'll bring that to the physician. I read online that you shouldn't eat or drink anything on the day of the health check, so I'm guessing that means 12 hours before the appointment? . For the chest X-ray and ECG, are you supposed to be requesting a picture or is the physician just supposed to write the findings?

For the applicant picture on the health check form, can I just use my visa application photo and crop it in there before I scan it over to the company?

Medical exam before coming to China is still required. I'm returning after a year in the USA. Medical exam before and after landing in China was required for employment.

Alien Employment license? If that is the same as Foreign Expert Certificate as English teachers have, i.e. 'Work permit', you'll be required to make new ME in China anyway.

I guess, emphasis is on 'infectious diseases' from lab results. Everything else is just regular thingy: EKG, X-ray, eye sight ...

Last time I did ME out of China was in 2013 in HK and it wasn't anything more than what I have to do at ME in China.

I think, ME before coming to China was abandoned after 2013.

It is maybe required for first time comers to China, so just follow Embassy's requirements, i.e. 'don't make too detail ME out of China, because it will cost a lot.'

Chinajobber:

The alien employment license comes before the Z visa and the work permit comes after the Z visa.

It use to be different at least at 'teachers'. 1st WP (and Invitation letter), 2nd Z and last FEC (after successful ME in China).

I read somewhere Invitation letter isn't required anymore .....

I am out of the date!

Be aware - the medical needs to be one specifically for international employment. There's a pile of specific tests that need to be done, and done on the right form. (and, may cost extra).

A:It's up to the employer if they want to hire you that's fine most cities today require you to take a health check every year when renewing the working visa if you pass the health check and you get your visa renewed each year I know teachers that are in their 70s and they're still doing great -- ironman510
