Q: Help me to understand the thought process of a jingoistic drone...

Over the last few years, my country of NZ has been flooded with migrants and because of the fact that we're now on the back end of thirty years of neoliberal dismantling of all the areas of industry and social services which the government used to run, the only control mechanism they have to create any notion of prosperity is to increase immigration and turn a blind eye towards money laundering, causing the country to be the place with the highest house prices in the world relative to net incomes. Along with this, the education system is being manipulated so that low level students come to study courses in subjects like hairdressing or flash bartending and then take advantage of the time period these courses are drawn out over to apply for permanent residency and citizenship with the result being a compression in wages. There is now also massive congestion in the city of Auckland so that now the local government is considering introducing a congestion tax.

In spite of this, the general attitude of people in New Zealand is one of friendliness and welcome to migrants.

There are very few foreigners in China, yet people in China seem so worried about foreigners hurting the country all the time. Do they sincerely think we are a threat, or is it a kind of collective unconscious reaction to all the nationalistic propaganda which is pumped into their heads? I find this supposition dubious because when I was a student I remember all kinds of notions being pushed at me, and the more stridently they were pushed, the more I rejected them.

One last point. I genuinely don't give the tiniest minutiae of a rat's arse if someone says something disrespectful about New Zealand. In fact, many of us joke that we need to start spreading lots of rumours about the violence, drug use, anti-intellectualism and cost of living to deter people from coming.

So surely if you want all of the foreigners out of China, wouldn't you go around saying that it's horrible and not to come?

It seems that these nationalist stooges aren't the best strategists in the world.

I think it's something in the tea.  Lots of times I can turn into a loud-mouth king of the non-pc arse-holes, and I have stood face-to face with numerous chiners of both genders, different ages, different socio-economic background, come from different parts of the country and ranted on about all of the (to me) social flaws found in modern Chinese life.  I can guarantee you they all say something to the effect of 'well, that's just how it is, it's Chinese culture'.  I then detect three responses they have, but try to hide-

1. I'm an ass for critiquing China

2. Their feelings are hurt

3. They secretly agree with me

Then a few minutes later I tell them that there is no reason for them to have hurt feelings and that the key to improving any society is to be able to take it apart and analyze it dispassionately.  Then for fun I explain to them that where I'm from ripping apart society and it's means and mores is a national sport.  no

But seriously, to answer your question, I have no idea why no one trashes china.  or at least no one I've personally met in 8+ years.  echina's Viki does though, which I think is pretty awesome of her!

*I also usually give them a little jab and tell them that poor, rude, impolite behavior isn't 'culture', it's just poor, rude, impolite behavior.

Sorry friend, there is no effective locust spray. Beijing wasted no time in paying off the American president, so it's going to be at least 30 years until someone uses religion to encourage mass genocide. "And he was banished to the eastern land of Nod with a mark upon his face."

'Do they sincerely think we are a threat, or is it a kind of collective unconscious reaction to all the nationalistic propaganda which is pumped into their heads? '

Yes,  the chinese history they were taught was heavily biased toward the atrocities foreign powers inflicted on china in the last couple hundreds of years. That included pretty much all the developed countries of today, all but America.

Small numbers?  How many Brits, Russians (they always downplay their part, even whitewashing it), Japanese, Germans.......etc. did it take to screw china in what they call 'shameful (their shame) modern chinese history)?  Those toy guns made out of wood were kindergarten toys compared to those laowais' ones.  Even to this day, money minded movie producers are still making movies fanning ultra-nationalism among the zombies, comprised mainly of lowly educated folks, young and old.  Remember Bruce Lee? What theme were his movies, virtually all of them, about? What era was that? He still was the hero among them.

Also, look at other countries and places like Taiwan, Singapore, HK, these places have a significant ethnic Chinese population. Visit these places and you will find the Chinese there don't have the kind of fear you are talking about. Why? Their gov't don't brainwash them with propaganda and threats.

Should the kiwis still adopt a laxed immigration policy with mainland chinese, they are bound to pay for what they get. Karma, sow and ye shalt reap aren't some stupid religious concepts copied from god knows where or when (although others can be), they are pretty scientific actually.

Unfortunately we westerners were taught , encouraged to not be racist, nationalistic and all round ignorant. Because of that, we over look the fact that other countries are dead set on using immigration to undermine our way of life . Example, a comedian says sth the CCP doesn't like, they press the glass heart / butt hurt button and through CCP organizations operating out of their embassies they organize protests against that comedian and demanding that your govt ban him even though your govt legally can't. Now, your right to free speech and free press are limited

earthizen:

This is their Yin Yang thing. Yang (visible) they rob (e.g. copyrights, patents). Yin (invisible) they manipulate (e.g. propaganda, turn off the lights (no google, youtube, seven speak-nots, motherland blind-emotions-blind-obedience....).

So yeah, left button, right button, red button, green button, light on / off button......all over their control panel.

Years ago I heard this from a cousin of a rich playboy, about why the guy played women, 'that is the most rewarding toy, playing human beings!'

I suppose that it is one way to play god......heck....remember those Greek mythological gods who toy with mankind, or some book describing some N-beings from the sky? And some guy in that book asked, 'aren't ye all gods?'  Hell, real or not, quite a few freaks, especially in china, seem to get huge kicks with their toys!

Well put, sir. I think my political sensibilities are probably the opposite of yours going by some of your comments, but I've always believed that if you look at history, the quality of life, political systems and institutions etc are the highest achievements of mankind and have provided the conditions which humans need in order to thrive.

Despotism, kleptocracy, intellectual obscurantism by clerical parasites and so on are the things which held us back and constitutional law as well as democratic institutions and a free press cleared up those burdens.

Western liberal democracies might not be perfect and may have some flaws in them which arguably elevate undeserving and incompetent people and dogmas crop up which cause people to fail to see the wood for the trees, but ultimately our way of life is the best system produced so far and we should appreciate how easily it would be to undermine it if you really wanted to try.

People in Australia and NZ are finally starting to see through these fifth column cynical and manipulative tactics to call these peasants out on what they really are. The general public despise them and want them to piss off because the richer they are, the less employable they seem to be outside of the conditions of a third world underhanded klepto-state. What they've done to the housing markets of Canada, Australia and NZ has created a huge conundrum from hang wringing PC wusses who are scared of being labelled racists by institutions which benefit from the money laundering.

You know when things are going downhill when a right wing cornflake conservative from NZ starts decrying racism and bigotry, as all the old property owning, blue collar retirees are now doing to keep their housing bubble from bursting from the ill gotten gains flooding out of this country over the last few years.

Bubba Kush really went all out to get his piece of the action on it. It is incredible how far people are going right now to hide this open secret.

Yes we may see things differently but I hope we can all agree that western// civilized countries need to protect our culture, way of life and economies better. Immigration from non civilized countries are a threat.

They love to say that they can't be extradited because they'll be tortured or have their organs sold.

I would never presume to interfere in China's internal affairs. I say that if the government calls them back, I'll make sure that my voice is in the hat so that my government sends them back as requested.

This guy went back as part of a deal between NZ and China's governments. On its own I think it worked as a deterrent to show that you can't expect the government to protect you if you have a PR visa or even citizenship. If they call for you on those charges, we will send you back.

The "my human rights will be violated" doesn't work anymore. You live by the sword, you die by it.
