You can only extend your visa once inside China (this has been the case every time I've asked). Beyond that, you need to go to HK. Also, turn caps lock off. It's on the left, near 'A'.

Samsara: In China, rules are interpreted or carried out differently at different locations. I have no doubts you are just given one extension each time, and told to go to HKG afterwards. But please, do a Google on extensions allowed for Chinese L visa, and maybe print what you find and take it with you next time around, may get different results.......

If the stay (number of days allowed to be in China on each entry) is to expire, you can go to PSB and request a 30 days extension.  You can get a maximum of two before you must leave the country, but there are a number of requirements you must meet to get them, depending on your nationality too.  Among them, either 20,000 Rmb in cash on hand or an account with at least that amount in a bank in China.  If the validity of the visa is the one you wish to extend, than that will not happen.  Same for the number of entries.

Even at Beijing you ca extend just once, it's the new rule. If you want a new one, you have to go back to your country or go to HK to have a new one.

I will put a comment here too so you get a notification. I answered below, but you are not the OP, so you wont be aware.

Anyway, basically it's difficult. It can be done in HK but it will cost money, and you need to go to HK to do it.

My last Boss lived in HK, but because he did not have a full HK ID (only temp), he could only get single entry business visas. He had to go back to his home country to get a longer term multiple entry M visa, and even then, he was limited to a 30 day stay, as is the norm on Business visas.

There has been a big crackdown on people living and working in China illegally. The laws have been tightened significantly.

It can still be done. You can get a one year M in HK, but it will cost you a lot of money. Who you pay that to? No idea.

I think its a loophole that has been left over for specific people. If you are earning big money and creating wealth, then you can afford the agents. If you are working in a language mill, it will not be cost effective.

I believe you can do it once. You might get a week or a month, but not 6 months.

Also, there is a story that if you go to HK for a new visa, with an F (actually M now) extension is your passport, the best you will get is 2 weeks.
