Q: Hong Kong Protesters Continue to Harass Mainland Tourist. What is your opinion?

On the Scene – Mainland Tourist Besieged in Hong Kong, Little Girl Frightened into Tears Comforted by Passerby, Hong Kong Youth: “We’re Not Chinese!!”

A mother and daughter pair of mainland tourists were besieged by a number of Hong Kong youths, the child frightened into crying nonstop. The young woman [mother] at one point says, “We’re all Chinese”, only to get a fierce reaction from the Hong Kong youths, snarling: “We’re not Chinese!!”

Hong Kong Anti-Parallel Trading Youths “Besiege” Mainland Mother and Daughter Explodes on Internet

March 8th, over ten thugs acting in the name of being against parallel trading successively went to Hong Kong’s Sheung Shui, Tuen Mun, and Tsim Sha Tsui districts to arbitrarily besiege, curse, and assault people. Apart from actual parallel traders, even a mainland mother-child pair of tourists who weren’t actual parallel traders as well as born-and-bred local Hong Kong residents were innocently victims of their insults and assault. Photo is of a pair of mainland tourists being besieged by a group of youths, accused of smuggling, with the little girl frightened into bawling.

In the conflict, the young woman at one point said, “We are all Chinese”, never expecting to to draw the fierce response: “We’re not Chinese!” Hong Kong government official, pro-establishment, and pan-democracy members, who have rarely been united, together used strong words to denounce the vile conduct of the anti-parallel trading protesters.

A kind-hearted Hong Kong young woman was beside them continuously consoling the little girl, helping wipe her tears.

where is the proof that these were HKers involved in this?

'rent a crowd'  for victim playing is a popular pass-time in a certain populous country.

this is old news anyway

This was over a month ago. Get with the times man!

As to this case....the Honkers were totally out of order here picking on this lady & scaring her daughter. If I'd been there thief bloody masks would have been ripped off & they'd have been confronted face to face. But then I'm a white foreigner so they wouldn't have come anywhere near me.

I agree with every single point the protesters have about China, i think they need to work on HK first before taking action on China.

The fact is that after a decade and a half of sucking on mainlands tit the majority of HKers are plainly apathetic about the whole thing. They want the Chinese to stop being pigs but not if they have to sacrifice anything for it. They know their freedoms are slowly going to be taken away but the still sit in the pot ignoring the boiling water.

These groups are a tiny percentage making alot of noise and untill huge percentages start rising up it wont mean anything.

Besides, it has always seemed strange to me villainizing the buyers when the its the HK people themselves profiteering that is the real issue. The border malls have just sprung up over the last decade creating billions as well as jobs.

If HK really cared these would be closed and people would sacrifice their jobs. A duty free center where people didnt need to cross over would benefit both sides.

I won't get into the rights and wrongs of the cause itself, but I do think that the dickheads wearing masks and bullying women and children are cowardly little fuckwits.

Largely agree with Mike.

I suspect there are no HK shopkeepers protesting.

If the border was to be shut totally there would soon be protests in HK to open it again. The money would win.

HK is screwed no matter what. Just like everywhere else, people wake up and it's already too late. And there's already a limit date for it anyway, which is 2046. Why struggle then, that's what 2 generations at most.

The first wave of clever HKers left in 1999. City's cleared now. Not even half of the population is actually from HK and a good part of it speaks putonghua.

It all started with a silky glove, people getting money on shopping streets, real estate companies and banks getting contracts with mainland, ignoring the long term cost, and ten years after here's the reality: defigured streets full of the same shops to satisfy a lowlife clientele, an import/export economy that's been dismantled and brought to Shanghai, and same goes for construction/banking, and finally greedy landlords getting fat deals from the same big companies who eventually took over and obviously not for the greater good.

Now the only thing Hong Kong can still capitalize on is the legacy of a place that has higher standards of everything, still has a culture, okay, but that's going away fast.

And I agree with mike, people are just fucking apathetic, which is a pure Cantonese trait, about all of this because really, statistically more people are still benefiting from the status quo and the rest just already now they'd better spend their energy looking for an exit strategy instead or getting tear gased on the street. Not blaming them.

People should all stand up for their rights but targeting a mother and her child just makes you and your group look like a bunch of pansies.

I actually watched the video (all the way through!)

So, either have quite a different perspective on things to others, or they didn't bother watching it and just went with the propaganda - but I don't have that much of a problem with what they did (other than the possibility they targetted the wrong person, and she wasn't a 'parallel-trader').

This BS about "harrassing" a child... what a load of crap!!! They abused a woman who had  a child with her - and, for those who didn't watch it, she wasn't "crying all the way through"  she started crying around 2 mins into the video,  for about 30 seconds, then stopped while a guy abused mother again, and then she started crying again. But mummy was sure to point to her kid to make sure there were photos of her child crying!!! "Oh, look - these bullies made my child cry - aren't they evil!!!" And - so what??? Kids cry all the time. She was only crying cos there was yelling going on (I'm amazed more kids don't cry here). The kid was NOT yelled at!

So, now we're "protecting the children" again???

Because of the post directly above mine - THE CHILD WAS NOT BULLIED!!!!! The youths did NOT yell at the kid! ONLY at the mother. (but oh, wasn't it all about how badly treated the child was... NOT!!!) Propaganda at its worst!

Oh well, foreigners are being harassed on a daily basis by xenophobic peasants here on the Mainland and it's no big deal, we don't go headlines about it.

Chinese people stop playing the victim card and start showering everyday, thank you.

Oh, this is actually an interesting deception! I thought this thread would be about another Mainlander playing victim to gain support for Chinese. It does appear like that at first glance, but there's more going on here. This story seems like a double-bluff attempt.

But this is actually about PARALLEL-TRADING. The protesters emphasize their opposition to this TRADE in specific; it's what they named their protest after. Parallel-trading is a phenomenon which benefits the traders and their Mainland customers, but punctures the price-gouging bubble that the CCP has created in the Mainland. It hurts their profits, so they want the public to disapprove of it.

Hong Kongers might be mildly inconvenienced by empty store shelves from time to time, but this trade should be a boost to the local economy. My understanding was that other issues with Mainlander tourism were more objectionable.

So, it begs the question why there is an "Anti-Parallel-Trading protest", if it's a minor inconvenience and a major economy boost. It's equivalent to Chinese factory workers holding an Anti-Export rally because they don't like their jobs, but they have no other options. It just doesn't make sense.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, and I'll tip my tinfoil hat to you. But I'm convinced this is a bogus rally, possibly performed by Mainland operatives masquerading as HK protesters. It's a tried and proven tactic the CIA has used to attempt regime change in countries around the world. They probably got the idea from the US gov't directly (can you see the CCP coming up with this on their own? ha!).

A perfectly executed stunt by the CCP. Right down to the skeleton mask / scarf thing. Why didn't the police arrest detain the individuals so we could find out their identity?

I love how people are so easily manipulated . Show the sheep some out of context photos , tell them half the story and they start talking about how wrong the HK protesters are. And we don't even know if these are HK protesters. Also if you the mother feared for your young daughter's emotions then why hang around?

A:  It depends on which part of the lake region you want to visit. Most start from NanChang, the shortest distance to the lake is about 30km  and 186km to the government run wetland park, marked by the hut shape symbol on the upper right corner of the map below

October is too early to see the migratory Siberian cranes. November onwards is better, their number peaking in between December and January. The dry season lasts from Sept to April.
