Q: How are lawyers in China?

Can they be trusted? Are they competent? I really need to know, just in case...

You're kind of a weirdo, your posts are about cannibalism, carrying weapons, bribing police officers, and possibly stalking your ex... and now are lawyers any good? Dude if/when you go down they'll likely simply put a bullet in your head because there's no defense for stupid.

Njord, there is absolutely no direct link to be made between my ex, cannibalism and my need of a lawyer. The problem is that leaving China is not really an option because of international treaties. I have to stay in China, but i'm trying to foresee what i can do if i run into trouble... thus my need for a reputable lawyer.

Sad thing about lawyers in China is they do not have too much power and can not act on behalf of clients when facing the government officials. I was advised by a reknowned Chinese lawyer to develop and use some "Guangxi" with local judges as this would help greatly in a case in another city. Lawyers in China just have to have a strong tie with judges in order to win cases.

Years ago, China had the worst lawyers in the worlds. They corrupted and worked only for the rich. Nowadays things are much better.
