If she is married to a normal Chinese guy, maybe a divorce and surely lost of "face". If she married with a soldier, both the woman and her lover will go to jail if this soldier husband wants to sue them. There is a crime called destroy of military marriage.

Shanghai and Beijing - nothing, probably not even divorce.

Hunan, Henan and Hubei - probably jail time and divorce

Military wife - they disappear, no questions dared to be asked.
