Q: How can I get a license for motor bike.

Hello,

i hope that everyone is fine and doing well. I'm planning to buy a bike. And I'm already having the C1 license for the car which I got last month. Just heard that according the chinese law, the biker  should have another license. Which is specifically only for bikes. How and where to make that license?

Furthermore, a friend of mine told me that I cannot get bike license, until my C1 license is  at least one year old.and I need to wait for one year. Is this rule apply on foreigners as well. I'm on family visa and this my third year here in china.

Guts, looking forward to hear from you.

have a good day......Smile

Apart from the 1-year rule the other problem is where you live. Guangzhou, for example, doesn't issue motorbike licences anymore as they've banned them in the city.

Ive vey also got a C1 licence that is 3 years old. I've wanted to change it to C1D for a while. I have been in contact with someone last week who says he can "arrange" to get my licence updated from C1 to C1E for 2000rmb. I'll let you know if it works next week Wink

To be honest, most police officers won't care... many people drive motorcycles without a license. You should, however, have license plates and a small blue book. If you were stopped and showed your C1 most cops wouldn't give you a fuss. This really depends on the region but a group of foreigners and I drank some beers after going for a ride on our motorcycles. It was in front of a police station and a cop came out and questioned us. We all admitted we had no license (except for one guy who had a Chinese drivers' license) and all he said was... "Okay, man yi dian (go slowly)."

I have been riding a motorcycle now for about 2 or 3 years... no problems but I am a pretty careful rider as well.

Eorthisio:

This is the good answer, don't bother with it since it will cost you money and no one cares. Some cities in China have 3 or 4 times the number of vehicles that are actually registered/licensed, most plates and licenses are fake and cops couldn't care less.

ok............so i went through this...i got the car lic first, frankly because i thought it was too dangerous on a motorcycle, went back later to get my motorcycle lic.. it turns out it was the same computer test..not one question about motorcycles, then they submitted the results and i was told to take my lic in to the traffic police and they changed it to both car and moto.

what made it easy i have a moto lic from the states already and my lic was not expired.

the hard part was getting the appointment to take the test...they told me i had to have a motorcycle first, but when i tried to buy one the dealers would not sell me one unless i had a lic...crazy...

i finally realized it all has to do with who you talk to....in GZ you can go to Foshan next to GZ and get lic..hell they have moto factories there.  I bought a moto at a factory there.

some people say no lic needed...and no lic plate needed.   i have both... but if you are in an accident and you dont have either one...it comes down to the policeman in front of you...

And just like in any cop in any country in the world the young cops are all into nailing everyone because its all new to them...so becareful..

one other note when you have a lic plate you have basic insurance 150 kuai a year, which is required if your in an accident and keep your butt out of jail!!   not worth the risk

finally, as mentioned in another thread....having a drivers lic.. puts you in a far more respected position in the eyes of the Chinese........

Thanks mate. I highly appreciate your comment. I really wanna participate in that exam but if they let me as it isn't a big issue. Let me tell you what the license office told me today as yesterday they called me to bring my Chinese and UK both driving licenses. Normally, when they issue the C1 licemse for car. In the start it have priobation period of an year. Which they clearly write on the license. But on my license there isn't any probation time. When the officials saw that LOL it really raised another question for them. That how is it possible. Anyways they told me again the same thing to wait for an year and then come. Here these assholes don't have any information. Is there any official link to this procedure? So I can show them as a reference. Waiting for your reply.

once again thank you very much brada.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
