Q: how can one generate interest in traditional Shanghai Chinese furniture business?

It's the hot-topic question that answers and solves itself.

It was definitely against a certain tosser. Whether it was against the Terms Of Use (abbreviated TOU), and enough to warrant a reprimand, is up to mods.

This post, and the posts it refers to got me thinking.

For me, the thing with spam posts is...   yeah they're mildly annoying but they usually get down voted, trolled and deleted soon enough so no big deal there. I don't have a problem with that. There's a good reason they're not allowed.

I'm actually sort of interested in seeing what they're selling though. It  might be something I'd want to buy that I might not know about otherwise.

Let's say a regular, known poster here found a new VPN that didn't require a credit card, worked really well on any device and he wanted to share it with others here, or maybe a service where people who spoke and read no Chinese could easily order stuff online without having to ask others for help.

I'm sure links to the website would be very well received.

But if it was the business trying to sell their product to people they feel would be interested in buying it, they would get trolled off the site.

Now that you mention it...

my VPN is free and works REALLY well...

but i would never share it on a public forum in China.

Stiggs:

Sensible, it would probably get shut down.

But if you were to share it, I wonder if that could count as spamming.

Well, we must feed the beast, the furniture business in China is crazy,  In order to make money you have to introduce new styles every 90 days to survive. If the style is unique and you make too much money, the other furniture suppliers will copy the style and undercut your price and most peasants will buy the price instead of quality. So you must have a new style when the copies start showing up and then mock them by asking if that's for their grandmother since the furniture is now yesterdays fashion or style. Every worker that works for you will think they can be an owner and sit on their ass and get rich, so they will not work for hard to sale anything for you, and family members are even worse at setting up a business and undercutting you once they learn who your suppliers are for your business. The dumb employees will gossip and tell your competitors in a furniture market business everything about your business so try and be in a separate location especially if you don't pay as well as everybody else. The last thing is get a good driver that want drive like an idiot and damage everything before delivery to customers.

Basically, when it comes to selling furniture the song "suicide is painless, really really painless" is a better option.

RiriRiri:

Might be crazy, but ineffective crazy.

Trying to stuff a new apartment and from what I could see, the furniture market is as competitive as the beverage section of your nearest convenience store: lots and lots and lots of choice for all sorts of weird tasted products that are probably full of crap you don't want to know about. Top that with unhelpful salesmen who would just tell you anything to make you buy their stuff.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
