Q: How can you get someones personal information from this site?

In a few posts now, people have been calling each other out and Ive seen some full ( and presumably real) names.

Recently a user here, somehow found my information. He didnt post anything or threaten me. He has done nothing wrong. Too be honest, I dont mind. It would probably only validate anything ive ever said as truth  and I dont have anything to hide. And too be completely fair, if I had a way to snoop on other users, I totally would. Im interested.

But its killing me! How in the hell could someone find it out? They know my first name and my city ( shenzhen, not exactly small). I dont claim to be an internet guru or anything. I use it for work, reading sports, ranting and porn. But its beyond me how someone could do that.

Am i missing something? Did i post something without thinking or is there really a way to do some google magic???

If you ever posted a resume for the jobs section, anyone who poses as an employer or recruiter can download your CV, I believe.

Thanks, but I dont think thats it. I havent posted a resume.

There are some ex-military people on this site. I know of one personally who was in the C&E Branch of the Canadian Forces...knows all about anything that is transmitted/received electronically. It doesn't take much to get what you want.

How big is your Internet footprint? Little tidbits that you share on this site and others can easily be assimilated into a comprehensive profile that, with the right tools and a little patience, opens up the floodgates.

And, going through your wallet when you're at the gym makes things easier, too.

mike695ca:

Hahaha I highly doubt I have the Canadian Military or the like on my ass. I just assumed it was something much simpler that I missed. But, your right, im not the most careful guy around. And the gym card would make sense * taps finger on side of nose*

I'm never use my real name on any site or even my CV.. I just explained to him: Hey it's my nickname. Or to those stupid job agents who want my degree, I told them back in the old days: Yes, I got my BA and Certificate's BUT I won't give them to you, I'll hand them to the company school manager myself.

but the owner of this website can easily find out about us by our IP address and if the internet or 3G sim account is under your name they can find out all the information about us if any high level of law or officer wanted it.

The IP address is more useful then our CV or name information on this site.

IP address can reveal:

1. Account name under the IP address.
2. Location and home or business address
3. Habits and type of typical searches we do.
4. And much more. Ask Snowden.

but I don't really think they're going that far

mike695ca:

Yeah i dont think so too, Anyone who is brave enough to check out my ip adress will get invaded with enough malware to last a lifetime from all my porn searches.

mike695ca,

1) Did you talk to someone via private message about recruiting them for your school?

2) Have you met other expats in real life who have seen your picture on this forum?

3) Internet footprint... https://panopticlick.eff.org/ (I fake/randomize all of this for important stuff).

4) How tall are you? I might be able to tell you who you are.

mike695ca:

1: Nope

2: nope

3: quite possibly

4: 6'2
