Q: How come China does not have a FIFA team by now?

I see soccer games on Chinese TV every night (sometimes 2 games on different channels) with the stand full of fans. SO they obviously love the sport.  With 1.5 Billion people they should have no shortage of talent. And they have more than enough money to go out an buy a team if they want to. What's the story ?

Isn't FIFA for national teams? China just need to grow its own talent. As it would probably not fly well with an all imported national team. Imagine the disharmony if they give citizenship to a group of super players from around the world, and they win a world championship that way. It would be like winning a Nobel prize in literature by copying an existing piece.

Because they suck! Are you for real?   Did you not say you watched a game?  Even Chinese people laugh at their own teams. It's a well known fact in China that the men's football teams are all trash.  In comparison though, the women's teams are not too bad.

It's because they are relatively new to the sport. They've been playing it for sometime now but the level is not the same as other nations. Give it some time things could change. Who knows!? It's too hard to tell at the moment but wasn't some officials that were part of the soccer organization banned for life! It's been a downward spiral for the soccer in China.
