Q: How to convert F visa to X(student) visa inside of China ?

My F visa will run out in the middle of January and the new semester in the Chinese universities will begin almost in the end of February. This means I still have one month and half as a gap between the expiry date and the registration date. Do I need to renew my visa to the beginning of the semester date ? or can I register and get my student visa from now ? I called some agency and they said you need 30 valid days  in your visa to process the conversion. What are the required papers to register in Chinese university starting within China besides health examination and certificate copy ? I talked to the university and they said WE ARE NOT SURE how to convert your visa.  I want to avoid F visa renewing hassle so bad.

I have checked around on this issue for you and I am afraid that you might have to exit to Hong Kong to get this done, particularly as you are in Guangzhou now.  You can read through all of this here if you wish :  http://www.visainchina.com/
