Q: How do feel when you get home from China?

I go home soon. I'm torn don't want to go, miss my home, but I have to go home. problems at home. Last time, I was felt cold at home, got home Sept 9, I had jet lag for 3 weeks just slept, half the time didn't know where I was. I rarely get depressed, but I got so depressed after I got home. Many things looked like I never saw them before, fat people at Walmart, I was shocked.

How does going home effect you in strange ways, do you feel like playing in traffic, playing shoulder tag?

When I first get home, I usually feel awesome!  Fewer people, less stress, no one stares, no one points.  The air is clean, the water is clean, the driver's are sane, etc.

Then...after a few weeks, I start to miss China.  It's really weird I think.

I got home 5 weeks ago.  I stayed 5 months straight this last time.

I have had the reverse culture shock something nasty this time.  It makes it especially hard when you live with a gf in China and then...boom...your alone.  I am used to going out every night for meals and everything else...experiencing crazy crap everyday and of course being with my girl.

The only thing that will help me get through another 2 months before my return is to focus on all the great things about being at home and not the great things I left behind.

China can really really suck but it can also be really really great at the same time.

At home I am too comfortable and bored.

Ted, it's called "reverse culture shock." You'll be fine. It affects different people differently.

After 5 straight years in China, I am back in the US.  There are so many things I love about being back in the US, but there are an almost equal number of things I miss about China.

The biggest thing is that the US just seems boring in comparison.  That is saying a lot since I have chosen to live in Las Vegas.  And at this point, I don't think I will be returning to China any time soon which makes me kind of sad.

I feel great when I go home. At home there is no pollution. I can see the sky and the sun, I can relax or study. I can buy a newspaper and read it. I can see my family and friends. I can drive where ever I choose. At home I need not walk/take a bus/take the metro for an hour just to get anywhere. At home I know where everything is, I need not take a translator/guide with me to buy something. I can buy quality clothes for reasonable prices without shopping for hours and days. I can buy electronics without wondering if it's fake.  At home the stores have a wide variety of shoes that fit me. At home no one tells me I should learn Chinese while insisting we speak English. At home everyone ignores me because I'm just another guy. I love going home. It's my vacation from work.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Damn I love going home.

I always am shocked by: how blue the sky is, how many trees there are, and how empty the streets are.

I feel like going home is fun and relaxing at first, but then I get restless want go back. America is comfortable and it will always be home. But China is just so much more interesting and exciting.

The day I was traveling home, it felt surreal, like I was dreaming, so it wasn't that bad. Being home doesn't feel like I was gone for 10 months. It's like I was gone for 1 month and a few things changed. I got over the jet lag in under a week. I'm bored as hell. Honestly, I wasn't that excited to go home, more like excited to get out of that apartment. That apartment was awful. I seriously think I would have enjoyed China so much more if I'd lived in a more decent place.

Reverse culture shock! Once again I'm gonna feel discombobulated & act like a total stranger even when I know I'm at home.

It feels great,..really great to be home! except for the first couple weeks due to jet lag and time differential. I can eat all my favorite foods again, watch all my favorite shows, see friends and family, enjoy the peace and soak up the clean air.  But there's something about China that always pulls me back and I'll be heading back in Sept.- Thanks WY, you're the reason..see you soon baby.

I've been in China many times, but only for a short visits (few weeks each).

After the first one - I've been in love.
So anytime going back from China - is for me like leaving my friend, or a family member.

Now, when I lost my family in my home country... it is for me time to go back to China, and stay there as long as possible, to avoid "going back". Nothing and nobody holds me on to stay in Poland.
