Q: How do NGOs in China work?

NGOs all have to be registered with the government and go through certain procedures to be formally registered. It's usually quite difficult so most of them become partially government controlled (so-called) NGOs. For example look up Red Cross China and see how they work. It's quite hard to establish a foreign run NGO in China, however recently some Chinese have set up their own ones.
