Q: How do you know when you send resume on echina if the receiver is agent or school?

i saw a notice to day about phone numbers not right and my first thought was agents calling and hounding the shit out or you.

i never posted a resume here because i did this when i came to china and the little bastard agent put my resume on the internet and let the whole damn country of china know who i am, so i never trusted this idea again, i stay busy with networking among schools and friends but sometimes a job description fits my background accounting and finance with english perfectly but i dont want to deal with an agent again.

anybody know how they handle this, the information here is not forthcoming and the advertisers could always bend the truth to the admin and echina.

anybody been hassled by an agent and you thought the resume was sent to a school directly.

i dont want phone calls from agents, i would rather live on noodles and be homeless, may they all burn in hell.

The moment you put your CV on the database it is up for grabs. Agents, schools, scammers who pay the right fees have the right to scan through all CVs posted here so there's no way you can avoid that. The other solution is to send your CVs directly to the schools of your choice which is a tad tedious because you need to have all their emails and the contact persons as well.

You are right that agents, recruiters etc will start hounding you but that inevitable. You can only avoid them by ignoring them.

You can't really tell, as Louis replied.

Agent will promptly send you Skype handle, or 'add me to ur contacts'.

If you contacted School directly through advert here, reply to your CV will appear in a week, or even longer.

I'm not talking about 'CV in database',  but replying to individual job adverts.

You could try contact the Schools through the web link of 'Schools in China authorized to hire FT', but you should research each School on the Internet, and send CV to 'contact us' on the School's web link.

I did that few times, but never got School's reply (as Non). Maybe Native English teachers would have better feedback than me.

Web link of 'Schools authorized to hire FT', if somebody wants to try:

http://www.anesl.com/schools/ info.asp?province=Guangdong& keyword=University&cmd=Search

icnif77:

I looked very quick through the first 5 pages on today's jobs listing, and I didn't find any advert by the individual School (IMO).

Dave's ESL has more Schools posting their adverts, however you might apply to the School directly (as I did to Canadian School in Kunshan, Jiangsu), however that School is 'authorized', and having other satellite Schools in same Province or around China, which don't have 'authorization for FT hire'.

School in Kunshan sponsored Z, with working place in Jianou, Fujian.

Helen in Hangzhou operates the same.

In 2011, I contacted Uni in Dalian directly, but rep. told me, it's impossible to get WP for Non FT in Liaoning.

2 months later, I was working at School in Yingkou, Liaoning, with WP sponsored by Helen.

My 'receipe' from that time, if anybody feels for lunch:

Only The Leader and the China Foreign Teacher's Union or CFTU knows for sure.

Our ritual system of animal sacrifices and dismemberment has a 98% accuracy rating in ferreting out recruiters.

However, the price for our services can be a little...steep. Do not proceed unless you are ready to make the ultimate sacrifice.

the checking of an agent is easy, i'm talking about an agent using a schools name and you dont know if this is authorized by the school or not and if the school fills the position, the agent has all the leftover contacts to harass. you tell agent you have a contract until a certain date and cant help them and they call every month anyway.

some agents use school names because teachers dont want to use an agent, would be nice to have a website that tries to screen scams like this.

so basically i need to continue to ignore the jobs section, dont trust anybody and never send a resume to someone i dont know, what a shitty way to run a country, but why am i not surprised.

This is a great idea but too much work for me. I think steps 3,4, and 5 would do the trick just fine. Kudos to those CFTU guys for coming up with this gem.

In my opinion, you dont wanna work for a company that cant be googled.

Any job posting that doesnt have a company name should be ignored.

Any posting that does have, dont send the CV through the website. Google the company and send the cv there.or call or ,my preference, walk in.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
