Hey guys. I just finished my year studying Chinese, and I need a good private tutor.
I saw this one lady for a few weeks, whose number I found in a cafe, but it really seemed like all she cared about was the 100 RMB/hour.
I'm now reluctant to just pick up random numbers ("10 years of experience". Sure...)
Anyone know of a good website or something that rates Chinese tutors? (Maybe something like italki, but for in-person tutors?)
Thanks.

I'd like to introduce me, myself and I to you, Chinese, excellent teacher in both English and Chinese. Have a good understanding of the language and the culture.
I started to help foreigners with Chinese learning since 2008 and most of my students can speak better Chinese than my English after my tutoring.
I won't teach you boring shit like a traditional teacher does. I'll make sure each class is as exciting and fun as you are on a roller coaster and based on my years of research on how brain works, i'll make sure you learn at least 10 times faster and more accurate than you learn it with those teacher with 'blah blah blah years of experiences'. We won't even be sitting in a traditional classroom, I'll be walking with you side by side in a park, on a hill, in a shopping mall......so you get to feel and touch and see what you are going to learn. and many many more.
Most importantly, I can give you a FREE tryout session.
There are some side effects that you need to be aware of though, some people can get too excited they might get a heart attack, or gaining lots of laughing wrinkles on their face.
PM me to get my wechat ID. I'm really busy most of the times, and as for your info, I probably earn 10 times more than most chinese do so i will not teach you just for your 100 rmb, i usually charge 100.1 rmb, but i'll give you 0.1 rmb off, just because.

It's funny how when I want to do classes, I'm expected to give out free demos... but when you want a Chinese tutor, not so common!!
Just demand a freebie to determine if the shoes fit. (as a guess, most won't, because the Chinese body is different. So is the Chinese mind. And therefore, the education system that they use in China can't work on us foreigners! the Chinese education system will get you to native level fluency within about 1-2 months (at only 1-2 hours per week) - but then you'll just forget it all after you take the test).
I think finding a good teacher capable of teaching you Chinese effectively is really really hard.
It's a bit similar to to the topic foreign English teachers are frequently mentioning - they are not hired to teach English, they are hired to assist their employer earn money.
With teaching Chinese it's quite similar - the schools do not really aim to teach you. They know that almost every newcomer will try to learn Chinese and they also know that really few (at least those searching for private tutor) will really make it.
In my 4 years I found only one quite good - all the others were from under average to horrible.
I concluded for myself that the best is to learn alone and practice practice practice.
The best worked for me to speak to people who generally do not have much to do and are happy to spend time talking to me - janitors, shop assistants in teashops etc. (the second one has the advantage that talking over the cup of tea you taste is very pleasant and even broken conversation does no tmake any problem to all parties involved).
Find a Chinese girlfriend, the best tutor out there
Nah I'm serious, having a relationship with a Chinese girl greatly improves your Chinese, meeting her friends and hanging out with them all is a great thing too. Don't just hang around with all the foreigners who speak English, and don't let your girlfriend do all the talking for you, at least try first and let her help you out if needed. I have met so many foreigners here who have girlfriends and they just stand there and let the girl do the talking where as there Chinese sucks because they can't be assed to try.
open your wechat go to ppl nearby nd search for girls only... :P i bet u r gonna learn chinese in few months..
