I found this review online. It may be of interest to you.

If your not in a Chinese speaking environment it's good.
But if you're in China, I think socialising is best!
It's the same as any other program. The best way to learn anything is to practice. If you are living in China practice a couple of sentences now until you get use to them and get fluent in them then try increasing your sentences and mandarin vocabulary.
it will teach you to talk like a tourist if that is what you want. full emergen is the best way, get some vocabulary tapes the Pimsleur method is a good one and do not forget go local my advice use Linguaphone for reference and vocabulary, Pimsleur method for use and sentence structure and retention and Rosetta Stone for visualizing and pronunciation and remember to go local you cannot learn a language without using it .
so just try having a good time with it the rest will come in time.

Rosetta Stone is a good learning method, but like any kind of learning method for language, you need more than one approach to fully learn a language. Rosetta is one-track minded, in that it teaches you the visual part of learning the language ,but is of very little use to learn the grammar, everyday conversation and putting together your own sentences.
Use Rosetta with other methods and it will be useful. I reccomend, spending time on Rosetta, but also speak to a native speaker using QQ or Livemocha (or if already in China there are millions of girls/guys wanting to help), and use a memorization method like flashcards or Pimsleur, and don't forget to use a couple books for learning to write and understand the characters and the many great tools on Google Chrome for translating to learn and read, as well.
