Q: How long does it take for money transfer to international account from China?

I need to pay a bill to an international bank account from my Bank of China account. I plan to transfer the money directly from one account into another. Will the person receiving the money get it straight way or is there a delay by a few hours or days?

I've done this a few times with the Bank of China, and the process took about 5 working days or so. I suggest though if you've got friends back home to do it via Western Union as the interest rates are much lower (works out if you're transferring large amounts) and it's instantaneous. You just need to sure someone you know has your transaction ID and they can pick up the money for you and stick it in the your bank account.

I've had different results... once, only a couple of days, other times, about a week (and once, a complete BS story) longer than 2 weeks....

Take your pick!

(NB: the above includes BoC and ICBC - I haven't tried Western Union - the prices can be higher, depending on how much you're sending. Also, I prefer to get a Chinese friend to help, and use their bank account - that way, I can send much more than the $500US limit we foreigners cop!!)|

i tried to transfer money from a BoC account to my home account (i had all the correct numbers with me for this), only to be told my home country doesn't exist.

patiently, with the assistance of a local friend i showed many different people my passport, only to be told "that is not a country"

At the moment, i am at home in a country that does not exist, enjoying time with my family and friends
