Q: How much does the Chinese wife need in the bank for a Europe tourist visa?

How much money do I have to stuff in her bank to get her a Europe tourist visa? She's Chinese.

 Thanks, Happy almost new year.

I asked my Bj Embassy about it. Wait!

If you're married, you can just show your account as 'mutual account'. I don't think, she must have her own account.

See this:

Tourist visa (Visiting friends or relatives)

  • The current bank statement (preferably for the last 6 months)

In case one doesn’t have a bank account or doesn’t own enough funds to be taking care of their expenses during this travel, one must ask the visiting friends or relatives to sign an “official affidavit of support” at the corresponding office in his/her place of residence. Make sure you carry the original document when applying for the visa.

  • The applicant’s description of their trip, the purpose of travelling, the time frame and all the personal date written down in a letter.
  • In case of first time travelers, one must submit also:
      1. Income tax returns for the last three years
      2. Appointment letter
      3. Proof of legal entity of the company
  • A reference letter from the employer
  • In case the applicant is the owner of the company he/she is working for, the business registration, tax returns and the latest bank statement is to be attached.
  • The plane ticket reservation (One shall buy the ticket after getting the visa, as recommended).
  • Other documents, specified by the visa type

Tourist travel (no visit to any relatives/friends)

  • The applicant’s bank statement (preferably for the last 6 months)
  • The detailed itinerary of the traveling days in the Schengen Zone, hotel reservations or a formal invitation letter from a resident of a Schengen country.

I got an answer: 'Embassy is replying, you and wifey must apply at the final destination country. Every Sch. country has its own requirements, and as it looks, you must present travel plan, beside what Hot listed below.' They cut off option to feed wife's account last moment.

I think, you could get more info at your final destination EU country's Embassy in Bj.

Me thinks, married couple should be able to show one bank account, doesn't matter what name it carries. If I would be you, I would just show them my account, and tell them it's wifey's account, too.

That's logical, if you're married. No need to get her new account and feed it.

Send them an email with Qs.

What happened at CSI? They halt trading, and new trading rules apply.....

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-01-04/china-halts-stock-trading-day-after-entire-market-crashes

Following the initial halt in CSI-300 Futures at the 5% limit down level, the afternoon session opened to more carnage and amid the worst 'first day of the year' in at least 15 years, Chinese stocks collapsed further to a 7% crash. At 1334 local time, stock trading was halted for the rest of the day across all exchanges (at least two hours early).

If you're a Europen citizen then get your marriage certificate notarised and stamped by the related embassy.consulate. Then you just need to provide proof that you can suppot your wife.

My understanding is that is your wife is trying to do this on her own then she needs to show 40k-50k RMb in her account BUT she needs to provide 3-6 months bank statements. If there was nothing in the account for the first 5 monhts and then suddenly 40k or 50km "appears" they are going to wonder where that momnent has come from. Lots of cases in th epast where Chinese have borrowed money for a week or two to make their bank accounts look good.  The visa centres/embassies have sussed this one out.

Best thing to do.....find the visa office website of the Shenghen country you want to visit, read everything, especially the guidelines and checklists. then just follow them to the letter and don't  lie as your wife might get caught out.

(I've just been through this for the 2nd time with my wife! Spanish visa centre doesn't seem as strict and are more helpgul than the Italian one - this is in Guangzhou. My wifes application consisted of a pile of paperwork an inch thick!(

hi2u:

The visa centres/embassies have sussed this one out.” What an interesting new British word I learned today.

You don't need any identification to travel throughout much of Europe. So why not just enter into the easiest country and then travel to your destination of choice?

Hotwater:

They want to see an itinerary for Schenghen tourist visas. For example, spring festival I'm off to Spain and Holland for two weeks. 10 days in Spain, 4 in Holland. Even though we'll fly into Holland we have to apply to Spain for the visa as that's the place we'll spend more time.

The rules are generally the same though my wife has found that the staff in the Spanish visa office in Guangzhou are more helpful than last year in the Italian one. Though the stupid thing is it's the same subcontracted company, VFS, who deal with the paperwork. Then the consulates make the decision.

Happy to to help with British slang! :-)
