Q: How much will Lantern Festival cost you?

Between dinner, that nasty dessert with glutinous rice balls, having to listen to your Chinese mother in law, and some lanterns. This could cost a guy his sanity. How much honey will you eat ?

102 kuai for a 12" take away spicy pizza & 50 kuai for the bottle of Bordeaux from metro! Nice quiet night watching a Chinese movie at home with the missus.

It has cost me a small fortune.

The family has gone to the hometown leaving me alone. So I headed downtown and hit the shops.

With no wife standing over my shoulder, my bank card took a bit of a battering.

I think my wife looks back fondly to when I could speak no Chinese and she went everywhere with me.  wink

We were in NZ, in a "big" town. The local Chinese community and local sponsors made a nice little show with traditional music, martial art demonstrations, and activities for kids. Cost nothing and it was nice...

Lucky bugger.  Did you enjoy New Zealand?  What was the beer like?  Pick up a sheep?

NZ is god-damn-beautiful, a garden country, and Kiwis are very hospitable ^^ My wife felt in love with the country, its people, the way of life. She even said "I feel so sorry for my country, here, it's like China was supposed to be", while looking at the (gorgeous) Waikato countryside from the window of the bus. If my wife say this, that means a lot. Also, being with my wife, no sheeps were harmed. We sampled the local cider, good stuff. Tui beer, good too. Will try the red wine ASAP.
