Q: How to reduce nervousness at work?

Baylee-Ann from Montana, 'Merica, is arriving in a few hours in Beijing! She's like a sister to me as she would always give me pecks on the torso. I'm really really nervous because it's been so long since i've seen her! Cheesus christ I hope she hasn't changed much!

For her first evening in Beijing, I plan to bring her and my Chinese girlfriend to a fancy restaurant and drink red wine, although Baylee-Ann is quite the drinker! She'll tell me everything that happened in the trailer park sine i was gone, give me newstories about Larry, Sandy and Patsy. Oh I can't wait!

I'm so nervous I can't stop gesticulating and I have trouble keeping calm.

Anybody can halp with advice on how to reduce nervousness?

Thank you for the advice, Teddy. I actually found a tshirt in a small shop in Beijing. Since my Chinese is far from perfect, I sent my Chinese intern on an errant to get one. I think she was very moved by the trust i put into her because she cried a little when I told her that might it takes day and night, she had to find the tshirt.

She found one, and I made her make a nice present box that's just waiting for Baylee-Ann to arrive! Oh I can't wait. I'm so happy i think i will extend lunchbreak by 30min so we can do moar dancing!

A:I think it depends on the size of city you're in, but yes, I have been treated better than others. For example, this weekend, I went with some friends on a trip to a town outside of the city. On the bus, there wasn't any sitting room for a while (it was a 40 minute trip) and when a seat opened up, my friend said I could sit down. But I noticed there was a woman standing right beside me, at least twice as old as me, and she also said I should sit down. I said, no, that woman is older than me, she deserves the seat. The lady said it was ok. I asked why, and my friend said that she said it was because I am a foreign teacher. I said, no, you can take the seat, but that woman is older than me, she deserves it. She did get off two stops later, so I guess that's why it didn't bother her, but still. How in the world do I deserve more respect than that woman? Blows my mind. Why should I get stuff just because I'm a foreigner? Honestly it doesn't just blow my mind, it pisses me off. Later on that same bus ride, I did get a seat, but there weren't really any other seats opening up. So a few stops later, I said my friend Alice could sit down. Honestly, she looked more tired than I did. Two stops later she hopped up, but I said she should sit down longer because I did. On the way back, I almost got spit on by an old man. Fun times. -- Jnusb416
