Q: How to tell if cigarettes are fake?

Does anyone know how to tell if cigarettes are fake? At this point of my time in China I half-assume they're all fake. And I can't even imagine how bad they are for you. I don't even know where to go to make sure what I'm buying is real.

How do you fake a ciggie? They're all real. Tobacco, paper, and lots of chemicals and additives. Best advice to avoid fakes? Don't smoke.

The only real way to be certain is when you notice something tastes bland and then feel like shit. Worse though if you smoke a lot while out late drinking, then you really feel like hell. Which could be fake booze. So you would have to retest.

But in the case it is both, I hope you don't have anything important to do the next day.

Serious answer though (and same for the beer), if you are used to one brand, and then one pack suddenly is noticeably different in a bad way, then its best to just toss those.

The fake ones kill you!

But seriously, fake cigarettes taste like animal crap. You know that strong stench when you go to a farm? They taste like that.

Look for loose plastic wrapping on the package. If the foil on the inside looks like it was put there by hand, it probably was. If the tobacco is loose and is almost lack - they're fake.

I rip the tops off of empty packs before disposing of them so no one can re-use them.

My question is a bit other -- why limit the talk to fake cigarettes?  I think that the list is much longer than that.
