Q: How to transfer money to an English bank account?

Any ideas on what I need with me to transfer my money in my Chinese bank (Agricultural Bank of China) to my English bank account?

From my very few times I've had to deal with the bank it always seems they need a lot of documents from you so a heads up before I walk in there would be much appreciated.

Take all the money you want to send home out of your account and take a Chinese friend with you to the Bank of China. You'll need your friend to send you the money to your account as there are draconian limits on what you can send back yourself. The whole process can take anywhere between one and three hours. And don't forget your IBAN and BIC/SWIFT details.

Maybe other banks can do this but where I was only Bank of China was competent.

I wouldn't use Western Union, they are very expensive, or at least they are to send UK to China. I don't know about the other way around.
