Q: How two foreigners can get married with a student visa ?

my friend and his girlfriend are from different countries (both of them aren't Chinese) and they are willing to get married in China. My friend holds X visa and his girlfriend will hold L visa. I just assumed that student visa isn't regarded as residency according to the laws of Chinese government. I recommended him to get married in Guangzhou 'cause I heard some foreigners could success obtaining their marriage certificate without residency permit. Is a student visa acceptable as residency permit for marriage in China ? What do you think ?

P.S: don't tell me about HK because I know it works there.

To get married in China you do not need a residence permit.  What you need are certified copies, translated to Mandarin and notarized, that you are eligible to be married.

Or if you get any flack, just go to Hong Kong, where you get married just with your passport, np documents required.  Must go once to request ban appointment, then return on the date given to be married.

Hong Kong is the best place, but you must make an appointment. They will send you a date and time. And the best part it the marriage will be valid in China.
