Q: I am locked outside the office door...

OK here's the thing. i have morning work today, so i got up at 7 and arrived at my office before 9. perfect timing.

this is a new job. it's a large company, they have floor 3, floor 8, floor 9 on that modern building, however, they have no spear rooms for me and several new colleagues. they put us in an apartment room in a nearby building on the 28th floor, and said, this is only temporary. However, there's only one key, we all have different time schedules, some work during the day, some in the afternoon till night, so we couldn't really decide who should keep the key..and it's only temporary...so no need to make other key copies. our boss who works on floor 8 decided that her drawer is the safest place to keep the keys. however, our key fob was only able to get access to the doors on floor 3...

now you might already seen what was going on. i arrived before 9, went to the 3rd floor got card swiped. went to the other building's 28th floor as i was hoping someone would arrive before i did. i knocked on the door, no one was there, meanwhile a colleague came. she said we should go and get the keys. we climbed on the 8th floor after traveled to another building as there was a horrible queue outside the elevator. the door was locked. we both tried our cards and the door didn't even move a bit. I started to knock on the glass door, hoping someone could come and open it. but no, it's so damn huge inside i doubt if anyone can hear us. as an idea person, i came up with new ideas, 'let's go to the 3rd floor and see if anyone else can open the door on the 8th floor'. we went on the 3rd floor, checked with several different people in different teams and also the reception...there were a couple of them opened their eyes wide with the innocent looking and asked me '...we have offices on the 8th floor?'

the office on the 8th floor opens at 10. i suggested that we should go to the resting area and rest. after all, i didn't even have my breakfast and i don't like to focus on things that i cannot do a thing about. so we rested. i started to use wifi and send messages to the qq group of my department, hoping someone could help. there was no response.

i took out my bread from my bag, before i even had a bite, someone replied, i'll go and pick you up, i am on the 8th floor. we quickly searched, no one was there. we asked another colleague to check the phone books and we called that guy, he did not answer the call. so we decided to go to floor 8 again. the door was opened. we went in and grabbed the key.

now we traveled back to floor 28 and i am sweating all over. well, half an hour of exercise is perfect for my health. no i still haven't have my breakfast yet. one thing i knew is if i don't write it down now, optimistic as i am, i will forget what had happened today within the next minute.oh by the way, on our way back, the elevator for the floor 28 was also broken down...

What you wrote on another post just 30 minutes after writing this:

"China this and China that...why don't you guys just get out of China and go back to where you belong to and are happy with? Like your own countries are any better? You guys are like jokes. clearly china is a horrible shit hole, clearly you are all complaining and complaining and complaining. then why bother to stay?"

In my own country someone would have the commonsense to foresee this scenario, and bother to use 5 minutes and 3 kwai to copy the key....

I guess you are relatively new here.  When you still consider this sort of thing to be a one off, it's no big deal.  When you see this sort of crap all the time, you might think differntly.

estern:

Also it's good to see you are fully acclimatizing to the "Chinese way" and spending the morning on a random internet forum, rather than actually doing some work.  You will fit in well here!

FYI

I AM CHINESE. so i have been staying here long enough to see the problems. however, what made me angry is most foreigners came here not because they like china, but because they have no better options, so they came, they complain. then go! you all have your legs on you, save yourself while you can.

Robk:

Mindless complaining is annoying I agree with ID01 -

If you are complaining because you can't communicate, then learn Chinese. If you are complaining because the food here sucks, then cook for yourself. If you are complaining because stuff is blocked, then get a VPN. If you are complaining that you don't have a key for something, then make a copy.

In China you have to view the patterns to resolve them beforehand. Most Chinese don't do this and that is why they constantly create the same problems. Complaining under some circumstances HAS helped China.

Many foreigners have complained that Chinese spit, cut in line, can't form lines etc. This complaining HAS WORKED... more and more Chinese have realized his makes them look bad and are slowly changing their ways.

Every time I take a speed train, and we are all at the platforms waiting for the train... everyone forms a line at the respective car docking point. This makes me happy.

So I both agree and disagree with you ID01. When a foreigner sounds like a broken record complaining and offering no solutions... then I agree it is annoying and they should just get out. If they genuinely care, complain (while still being polite) but offer sound solutions that can make China better... Chinese should offer an ear and listen.

@ID01: Most foreigners are not here because they like China. Some are sent by companies. Some have to stay for their partner. Some are like you say, having 'no other options', chasing savings in China. Most leave quickly. Few reside in China out of love for the nation, and almost nobody likes the country more after years of prolonged Benny Hill-style keychasing scenes.

Sounds like a rough day, I have been in many similar situations. I suggest you get your own key. If you are Chinese, then you will know that temporary can sometimes mean weeks or months. This can lead to you a lot of frustration that is unnecessary. Get the key made because you KNOW sharing one key IS going to cause problems.

They should have given you two. Solve the issue before the potential problem occurs.

Personally, I can't stand wasting time. Time is a precious resource that can't be bought or taken back and affects everyone. For example, they have wasted your time... you didn't have enough time to eat breakfast... your work until lunch may have less quality because of it... and it could also affect your health.

and what is your question?

as far as i can make out from your unreliable ramblings over the last few days you are either a transvestite, cross-dresser or hermaphrodite.

whoever or whatever you are, WHAT IS YOUR POINT?

as with Strawberry/Vicky, do you not have 'wise friends' in real life (people on a forum are not real friends) with which to bore with the minutiae of your life?

congrats ECC, you are rapidly becoming a useless forum as the CPP wishes

ID01:

good point. you are the first one of my experiment objects that brought this up. the question here is no question, and yet, i still get answers. you score lady!

I actually love this post. I just read a post of his where he is yelling at people for pointing out problems in China and here, this moron unwittingly tells a story highlighting some of the very same problems. poor management, laziness, incompetence and outright stupidity.

Please stop flooding this forum with your useless ramblings.  People ACTUALLY use it as a source of information.  If you want a platform to post your random thoughts, get a blog.

People bring their strong communication, organization and planning skills they learned at home to the office. Keep the culture strong! And remember, if employees or family end up murdering each other, it must be because they were SPOILED!!! ayup yup yup. Punishment is the solution. Spank the stupid away.

Sounds to me like you're  complaining about China. China is a place full of laziness, that's why they didn't bother making copies. The option they chose is ridiculous , time consuming and a security risk.

It doesn't take much to make copies and reprogram a FOB, but Chinese people are so lazy and insanely cheap. On a lesser note, who takes on new staff before they are ready for them? At the very least hire them but start them when you are ready or make yourself ready for when you need to start them.

But in your small mind you can't comprehend this can you?

You don't see it?

Now we know this account is what it is. Let's ignore it. Better luck with your next account troll.
