Jealousy is a powerful sentiment, ignore them. And remember some foreigners could have VDs so take care of yourself.

Victoria, it's your choice, I'm an only child, (I have no brothers or sisters) and would give a lot to have one.

Hate is a very strong word and one personally I try to avoid using especially with regards to my family. However, if you do feel that way perhaps compromise, visit your family for a shorter time and then go somewhere else with your boyfriend?

They're jealous. Do they have boyfriends? I hope your boyfriend treats you well.

No offense, but they are ignorant and you can't blame them. Hell, realizing that we eat rice is a revelation in itself.

It is really not nice to speak ill of your family in public. If you want to complain about your sisters, do so with family and close friends, not strangers.

We have a saying that blood is thicker than water, what that means is that our family bonds are stronger than with unrelated people, including very good friends, who will just enter our lives and probably fade away. You always have family, Your foreign friend could be gone in a couple of months or a year or next week. You have family forever, so try and get along.

I think it can be very difficult for a Chinese woman to be with a foreigner. The people on the streets will say she is with him for money. I never heard that anyone had good things to say about my girl friend being with me from her family, neighbors or people on the street. No one said she was lucky to meet a rich foreigner that treats her well, which would be more appropriate..

Just because they don't' really understand your choice doesn't mean you have to get pissed off at them. Give them some time to digest and try to talk to them a little bit. If it doesn't get any better, basically just ignore what they say. In time when they see that you're happy with him, then they will start to understand. Just relax and enjoy your time with them as family, no need to turn it into a bad thing. Smile

Is that sister or cousin?  I find people here often use the term sister when really they're talking about a cousin they almost never see and haven't known well since childhood.  Interfering, semi-distant relatives can be annoying.

you should discuss this problem with a close and trusted friend. Not publicly with random strangers

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
