Q: I showed my girl friend my iPhone
Someone stold my girl friends phone before and I offered to send her an iphone from home. I can buy an unlocked phone cheaper from the Apple store. She said it was too much money and refused my offer, which I took as a good sign.
There was no unlock for my iphone before I left, so I bought an android phone. The other night I showed my Gf my iPhone and she feel in love with it, for it's beauty. So now she owns it. She's using it for a camera. There is an unlock for my phone, but whoever she went to said it can't be unlocked because it was a contract phone. This is a load of crap, but she won't listen. I find Chinese tend to not listen well.
She does use a camera for her work. iPhone 4 does have a pretty good camera, but i think its a waste to just use the phone for a camera. I've offered her my spare camera. Cameras are cheaper at home, so I have 2, one for a spare.
Are the Chinese this in love with iPhones that just holding one is a religious experience? BTW I didn't get anything back for my iPhone.
Having an iPhone is a status symbol in China. Makes no difference if it is a real one, or a fake one. iPhones, and iPads, are one way to show others that you have made it.
By the way, you can get a "fake" one from about 1500 Rmb that will work very good, last you many years, and does about 70 % of what a real one does. And you can also get a real one apple iPhone 4S 64 Gb unlocked from 2800 Rmb all the way up to 8,000 Rmb, depending where you shop. Taobao has them in the 4,000 to 5,500 Rmb range. China Unicom will sell you one for 7,999 Rmb unlocked.

The camera is probably the worst thing about the iphone.
But an iphone is still so useful in China!

I'm going with my broken iPad offer, buy her a broken ipad ( buy it cheap) and tell her to be careful , because that is all I can afford for awhile, so she must take care of it. I don't want to hear she lost or broke it. i figure i will never hear that ''she'' broke it ot it no working.
Actually the best thing to do is to buy them in China from a dealership.
Apple has made a contract with China Mobil, Telecom and Unicom.
They are allowed to make payments on iphones, this is why almost every Chinese has one including the village people
