Most people just boil the water though a lot install filter systems under the sink. Coffee shops in particular have filters installed.

By Chinese standards they do think I am "crazy", but since my stomach is a bit "delicate", I do go thru a process for cooking and drinking water that satisfies me.
I have a water filter SBS-UF-B1 filtering the water used for cooking and drinking purposes. Once thru that filter, I boil the water and allow it to cool down. Then it goes thru a stone filter, and stored until used.
I did one further step. I took a sample of the end result, and brought it with me on a trip to USA, and gave it to a friend of mine who works at a Lab in Chicago. He analyzed the water for me, and results were free of germs and chemicals, or 99.8 % pure.
But my better half family just boil the water and drink it afterwards.

Good, maybe you can answer a question I have often wondered about, but just never crossed my mind the same time I was using the internet. Anyway, here goes...
Q: How long can you safely store bottled water? I typically keep an extra bottle (5L) or two on hand in case I miss my delivery for one reason or another. I typically cycle them through, but what is the guidelines for just letting one sit there? It's sealed and not in direct sunlight or anything.
