Q: If you already have visa, is it better to tutor or teach classes to make a little money?
I already have visa and only want to teach part time - I've started looking at the market, but I wanted to know what people who teach think.

There's a ton of beans in the tutoring game. It offers much more per hour than in the classroom.
It depends on which makes more money, I suppose. Of course, technically, both are illegal to do since your visa only allows you to work at the place that got it for you.
I agree with Xpat.John, you have to be carefull in teaching part-time or full-time without the adequate visa.
Tutoring is also illegal, but it is less obvious, especially if you provide tutoring at your place or at your student's place.

If you have a legal Z visa than go ahead and take a full-time job in a school. Why? because that is one of the best ways to gain new students. You work at the school you are advertising yourself, plus if you build good relations with the other school teachers and parents you can get tones of students in your spare time. Later on, after you are making a good income from teaching at a school and teaching private students than you can opt to stop teaching full-time in schools. Yeah you can make some money doing part-time private tutoring but the problems with this is you are limited. Why? because you usually can only teach evenings and weekends, mon to fri day time hard to get students. I dont think private tutoring is a good solid long-term plan. Might be wise to consider, while teaching to use this as a vehicle to build big guanxi so later on you can introduce new business ideas and concepts and gain a big customer base.
