Just tried ordering from Pizza Hut. I have done many times before. They have delivered many times to fellow residents in my building.
I was given a message on the PH website which said the website was under maintenance and so order via the phone number, which I did.
After a bit of time, I was told the areas have changed and I am now outside their delivery area.
I then went to order from McDonalds which is a big thing because I would rather eat my own balls.
Trying to find my address with them is like trying to find an honest Chinese teaching agent. It's almost impossible and you want to kill them afterwards.
Why the sudden farce?
Are they trying to fit in with their Chinese customers? Be more like them etc? Difficult to deal with and tolerate? With a service to match their Chinese competitors?
So... how were your balls?
Look, man. Fast food restaurants (and every f*cking thing else) in China are a "moveable feast" as Papa H would have it. You should know that by now. Accept it.
Go grocery shopping tomorrow. It'll save you having to call Pizza Hut again or eating your balls... or what's left of them! Cheers!
If you think you are outside their deliver area, which I guess you think is close by, then why not just order for pick-up?
Should also add; balls would taste better than China Pizza-Hut!!!
GuilinRaf:
China Pizza hut does have some pretty good "tempura- like" dishes, though a bit pricey.
hiddenjelly:
I guess it depends on where you are but here in DG we have a pretty good selection of foreign restaurants which are a million times better than the chains!
Did you talk to the outsourced Indian guy with Mcdonalds?
CARLGODWIN1983:
He/She didn't sound anything like an Indian.
What I can say is, I also asked for a McChicken Sandwich. After being asked, I said I wanted the McChicken Sandwich which is not the spicy one. So, she gives me the slightly spicy grilled chicken long one (whatever it's called).
Bangs head on wall.
JustinF:
Local logic. When i got to restaurants and tell the waitress not to put MSG and salt because i don't like taste enhencers, they put soya sauce instead.
Today, I have seen TWO Pizza Hut Delivery people in my building.
So, someone wasn't being honest with me.
On a slightly different note:
For the last two years, I have ordered my drinking water over the phone with no trouble. The guy who took my order over the phone understood my Chinese and my water was delivered on time.
Starting last month, a woman has been answering the phone. I start to tell her my order and she just says "laowai" and hangs up.
Twice I have had to go to the place to order my water and both times the boss asks why i dont call. I explained to him but he just laughs.
On the other hand, on both occasions he has delivered the water to my place at that moment and even given me a lift on his motorized trike.
Still, gee whizz....
It is an annoyance now, but if it happens when i am having a BCD....
Well, to answer Sorrel, I ordered this afternoon.
I called, and was told that I was outside the delivery area which has been changed.
I told him he is talking bollocks and explained the last two days events to him. He then said he would call the branch and see what's happening.
I have now eaten the pizza.
Guilin, I think there is an element of do not do for foreigner, but this is Pizza Hut - it's not a Chinese takeaway or whatever. I think they just try to take the piss.
Well, they have found out, as with many others. I don't take crap or accept it.
Tbf, the bloke I dealt with today fixed the problem.
GuilinRaf:
Glad it worked out for you!
Sometimes talking to the boss really DOES help. I try that approach before going Nova (which usually means simply walking out of said establishment).
Many times, it is just the employee who simply does not want to be bothered, or thinks it is funny.
Don't think it's cause you're a foreigner. My wife is Chinese and that shit happened to us too. ALL THE TIME. It's just the typical nonfunctional BS you have to deal with in China.
