you missed my point,, i was prepared and it was a breeze, they just took my passport and form,,it was so easy,,( for me, I have income, a house, 8 cats and a dog)
you can't mail in applications,,,however I did it myself which meant I had to drive ot Ottawa,, had a nice visit with a GF while there,,,,most of the agents that handle getting passports want about $100 to do it,, i met a guy there that does it for $30,, oddly the girl at the embassy did not speak English, he translated for me,, so I had to make a second trip as I misunderstood that they won't mail back the visa... so two trips to Ottawa,,,, gas and my time,,, better off letting someone else handle it even for $100,, i kept the guys card that charges $30 if you need

It's dead easy, he just needs to say he's going to visit his dad and his step mother in China... He came with a 1 month visitor and I ended up adding him to my foreign expert certificate (as you can add family members) and after that he could stay as long as my residency was valid! it was to easy!

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
