Q: Is it just me, or are Chinese movie theaters really loud?

speaking of movies in China....

The sound levels for the last 3 or 4 films I've seen here (in different theaters) have all been insanely loud. Like to the point where my ears were ringing afterward. Granted they were action movies (avengers, looper, dark knight rises), but c'mon. Has anybody else noticed this, or am I just getting "old"?

I'm guessing the extra theater volume is required to drown out all of the endless chatter and ringtones emanating from the audience.

Must be to try to help silence all the talking people seem to do in movie theaters in China.

China hasn't seem to caught on yet that you're suppose to be quiet in a movie so others can enjoy it better.

Yeah they are louder because Chinese will talk on their cell phones during the movies for example. What surprised me was the reserved seating at the Theater we go to in Nanning.
