Q: Is it safe to go to a cheap blind massage place?

I played badminton years ago and tore through muscles in my back, leaving me with constant back problems if I carry heavy things or walk too long in a single day. I don't want to take any risks with massages, but at the same time I don't feel like spending 200 yuan+ for a massage. Anyone regularly go to the cheap blind massages (60 rmb about) and generally satisfied?

I only went once to a local blind  massage place.  The cost was 50 rmb per person.  Seemed ok to me....meaning, it didn't cause me any problems or leave me sore or anything.  I say give it a try, might wanna take a Chinese friend with you the first time though.

Prices may vary depends on which city you are in, by the way, Which city do you live in?
60rmb will do in most places in China.

Is it safe? You know it's pretty easy to hide from those guys if they get frisky, right? But yeh, i've been a couple of times and found the service satisfactory. They both leaned towards giving a 'hard' massage though, and i'm one of those old traditionalist who believes that having a massage is actually supposed to be an enjoyable experience, and not one that gives you nightmares for the next two weeks. If you don't speak any Chinese you might want to learn how to say '"softer, you're hurting me, I need those bones to use later," but yeh, they're worth going to.
