Q: Is it still common for people to wear something red every day when it's 'their animal's year'?

I have one Chinese friend who every day wears something red because she's 24 and it's her zodiac animal year.

One of my Chinese professors in my university wears a red sweater every single day when he teaches. I asked students who knew him why, and they said it was because he was 48. Do people really follow this strictly? Why?

Because during your animal year, something really bad or something really good is supposed to happen.  And red keeps away the bad spirits to protect you from that something really bad.

It is supposed to give them good luck, especially during their animal year.  But is it followed strictly?  No.  Nothing here other than birth and death is followed strictly.

I like a snowy Happy new year, rather than a no sky one...Beijing's time to ban the cars---the only solution for the time being...
