Q: Is it true that there is no "age of majority" in China?

By age of majority I mean drinking age.  I heard there is no legal age required.  If so, what is wrong with our society back home?  I don't see the same problems with drinking here that I do back home, or at least not as much of it.  Is it because we make such a big deal about when you "get to" drink?

Oh yes there is an age of majority in China. It's 18 years of age for either gender. For your interest, the age of consent is 14 years. And the age for consent for marriage is 22 years for males and 20 years for females. So there, go forth and have fun!

Thanks for your reply.  It's funny though because I thought I answered the question tonight on my way to my favorite barbecue place.  As I walked past a grocery store on the way there, I saw a boy who looked about 8 years old coming out of the grocery store.   He had a bag with a big bottle of beer.  So maybe you are right, there might be a restrictive age.  Maybe my question should have been if there is one, is it enforced?

Well, as you may already know, the awl enforces what they want to enforce. We've seen kids smoking as young as 5. Parents send their kids to buy beer, ciggies, whatever. Laws are passed in the capital thousands of miles away so who's to know how it's enforced, or enforced at all. In this country, I've learnt that one can do what he wants, just don't get caught. And even if he got caught, he can buy his way out.

No, it's because Chinese teens are always at school or at special lessons, and they are not allowed to wander outside by themselves.

Have you tried Baijiu? Why would anyone want to drink it until you really really have to. 5000 years and all they can make is poison, or worse wine with snakes etc. And I thought the worm in Tequila was bad. Or with Tiger blood etc. I wonder if I could get a job pissing in their brewing vats? Women can testify that yes it is whoopie with a wild animal.... Bayer Claw wine will bring out the beast in you.
