Q: Is it worthwhile,value for money to do a Business internship for 3 months in Shanghai?
I am currently in South Korean working as a ESL teacher and i want to get a business job in Shanghai, I know basic Mandarin.I keeping seeing these internship programs that you pay about $1650 to work in your desired industry for 3 months,it seems like a lot of money relatively to the cost of living.(but could give good experience and is convenient when getting a start in Shanghai)
Does anyone know if they are worth the investment,with long term prospects of staying in China?
Do you know anyone that has done one?

Any job that requires you to pay money is most likely a scam. Especially here in China.
And even if they got you an intern job, it most likely would be of no use in getting you a real business job here. Unless you speak, read and write fluent Chinese and you are willing to work for Chinese wages then your chances will be very slim.
I know some companies do that. The company i worked for before hired foreigners like us thru a 'headhunter' those foreigners paid them like 1K + USD for a "convenient package" supposedly inclusive all those things u need to settle here. Then u get to work on that company but the thing is that u dont do the job that u and the employer has agreed upon, and might even extend ur working hours till late. To make it worst, you just get paid for 3500RMB and you have to pay your monthly rent for like 2500RMB. Now, better think twice.
The best way for you to work is get an employer who wouldn't ask you to pay him/her and is willing to pay your visa cost, flight and accommodation.
Then you should be practicing your Chinese, cuz there's no way they'd talk to u in English/Korean. Heads up!
