Q: Is it wrong of us to say thank you all the time?

Do Chinese think we're overly polite all the time?

If Chinese are friends with each other, they don't say thank you to each other.

I say thank you to my friends all the time, and so do they. There is nothing wrong with that.

While it is customary in China not to say "thank you" to close friends and family members, I still do it all the time.  And when told "no need" my reply is always that it is nothing wrong with showing gratitude and politeness.

After a few years, I guess they are used to my ways by now.
