Q: Just what do you guys think of eating food outside?

I'm not talking about restaurants either I'm talking outside like on the streets. With all the pollution and all I have to wonder if that cotton candy that's been sitting there waiting for a customer to buy it would accumulate some type of bad things on it while it has been waiting for some time.

Do you ever think about this when you purchase your food outside? That's why I like eating indoors and at least it reduces the amount of bad stuff you could find on the foods. That's what I think so what about you?

I eat out all the time, i've resigned myself to the fact that i've eaten and and am going to continue eating bugs, dirt, maybe some rat meat, as well as large amounts of food that have been prepared by people with bad personal hygiene and piss, shit, boogers or all of the above on their fingers. As long as i've got a beer to wash it down with i'm happy.

Yes. Down here in the south, eating outside is my preferred option. As summer starts, the A/C's in the restaurants makes it feel like the north pole to be inside. Of course lunch needs to be indoors as the sun is to bright.

One thing about thinking that eating in-doors will save you from pollution. Where does the air inside come from ? My bet is that it comes from outside.

Love the street food. Like I have said many times my only rule on where to eat is. If there are a lot of locals buying then it's OK. I even go for breakfast sometimes at this grotty hole in the wall place near where I live that has a few outside tables. I get that deep fried bread stick thing and some hot soy milk to dunk it in.

Making me hungry and looking forward to my return on Wednesday.

I'm breathing in the polluted air 24/7, I don't know how much difference it'll make to eat some of the residue on some street food.

Unfortunately I haven't found the fancy door and walls of an indoor restaurant to make much difference on the quality of food I get. And I like that on the street you can actually see them prepare what you eat.

Sometimes I think I'm living in the wrong part of China when I read this site. I only even see maybe two or three food carts a day and cook almost all of my own meals same as back in the US. When I don't feel like cooking, it's out to the Jusco prepared section or KFC with me. And they call this a tier 4 city!

@99, if the cotton candy has been out too long, you can pick the bugs off or eat them for a crunchy sweet treat.

Eating out or fast food just saves the time that it takes to sit and wait for a meal. Also standing while eating decreases the chances of getting food on your clothes.

Grilled street food chicken rules all.

Embrace it. Better yet, eat it.

Love it, love it, love it. I think that in some circumstances, it should be eaten (by pregnant or nursing women) but, I think for the common healthy person, it isn't a big deal. My motto (as instructed by a Chinese friend when I first got here) "Just don't think about it!" I love the grilled meat, and those egg pancakes stuffed with those nasty hotdogs, and those noodles that are apparently terrible for you... Come on! You'll eat a bag of dorritos without a second thought, but street food is no good?
